My parents were very reluctant to let us watch South Park. My brother wanted to rent the Nintendo 64 South Park game, and she didn't allow it. We had other ways of watching South Park, but my mom specifically was against it.

Hell my mom bought me a South Park N64 game when I was 13 or so(It wasn't very good).

Granted I doubt she knows much about the rating system, she probably just for sold a bundle of bargain bin games. But Quake 3 and Pilotwings 64 were fun.

I remember not being allowed to watch South Park or play Grand Theft Auto 3.

I also remember an amusing moment when I was like 7 saying "look dad! I can get my money back" as I stabbed a hooker so that one makes sense.

i knew right from wrong as a teenager could rent R rated movies and M rated games though i didn't get many of the latter except for turok on the N64.

maybe the only thing off limits was porn.

Yeah, for some reason we weren't allowed to watch The Simpsons for a long time. Once they actually sat down and watched some of it they changed their minds. Not sure exactly what it was they were worried about.

I'd always just put the M Rated game up on the counter and go somewhere else,hoping it would work out without me being pointed out. It pretty much always ended up in the bag so I don't even know if they mentioned it to my mom or not, since a kid wasn't present. The one time she said no was with Dead to Rights, since there's a stripper on the back.

My stepmom wouldn't let us watch Beavis and Butt-Head, South Park, or King of the Hill. For KotH I think it was entirely because it was made by the same guy as Beavis and Butt-Head rather than any of the content that was actually in the show.

For some reason, my dad got pissed at my brother watching Top Gear.

I wasn't allowed to play video games Monday through Thursday. Only allowed on the weekends and Friday. I found ways around it, but that was my only restriction.

Rated R movies. I would sneak into them as a teenager, but I was like 16 before I first started telling them I was going to see one.

My parents were pretty strict when I was a kid, so lots of stuff. Like most actiony cartoons, GI Joe, TMNT, etc. And Star Wars was "demonic" or some such thing. Couldn't get Legend of Zelda because it had evil magic or something. And Mario 2 had crystal balls at the end of every level, so that was out. >_>

When I was... I dunno, an older kid and teenager, they definitely loosened up some, but also by then I was better at just sneaking around their restrictions that were still in place.

The only time I remember that ever happening was my great grandma. I was staying at her house and she wouldn't let me watch Kenan and Kel. One guess why.

My mom let me watch r rated movies with rape scenes in them but wouldn't let me watch hannah montana or other non cartoon shows because she didn't want me learning about dating.....

Had completely unrestricted access to the internet tho by 12 so I watched whatever the hell I wanted lol.

I was forbidden from watching police academy because i'd play it on VHS and pause at the boobs so I could look at boobs. I was pretty young, like 7 or 8.

My mom knew I watched Beavis and Butthead but didn't know anything about it. She caught an episode where Beavis keeps repeating boner or something and she forbade me from watching it again. That's when I became a dedicated fan.

Not really. I grew up with Simpsons and Married With Children. I remember watching Robocop and Total Recall among other films at a young age without being shielded.

There was an incident however when I was like...9. (so about 1992) We went to a game shop and I was picking out an NES game. Can't remember the exact game but it was military based so maybe Tiger-Heli, Silk Worm, or Jackal, whatever. My mom felt it looked too violent (I've literally owned Super Contra for like 3 years by this point) and wanted me to leave so she could talk to whoever was working there. She wound up buying me A Boy and His Blob.
