For Archers: Ignatz from GD has a +20 hit. Bernadetta, from Black Eagles, has an ability where if she has less than max HP, she gets a bonus +5 to damage. Ashe, from Blue Lions, has a built in Lockpick ability (which really isn't all that useful) I put about 80-90 hours into each of my playthroughs and wound up with over 300 hours worth of game time. but i also was taking things really slow. Starting out I highly recommend you first focus on increasing Byleth's professor level as quickly as possible(A+ is the max), mainly because it nets you more activity points to spend on your free days off which allows you to get much more affinity support and personal instruction done in the long run, and it also increases your monthly allowance(Small perk, but still kind of nice early on). Second, focus on spending time with students / staff outside of the house you initial chose who you want to recruit. Spending time with them at the dining hall eating a meal is a good / great way to increase professor level and support affinity for not just Byleth's relationship with the two characters, but their relationship as well if they have supports, especially if the two characters you choose to eat with Byleth really like the food that is to be eaten. The faster you build supports with characters the sooner you can recruit them and gain access to some of their special paralogue chapters and the lower level they will be, which gives them more potential to be much stronger as well. I recommend recruiting as many characters as possible on your playthrough, you don't need to use them all in battle, or encourage and instruct them all, as you only need 12 to 14 units max to have a incredibly diverse team to easily beat the hardest paralogues and game. Focus on recruiting as many units as you can, mainly to get access to their special paralogue chapters for some great exclusive equipment. Throughout your playthrough try to decide which characters you'll want to always use as part of your main team and focus on keeping them around the same level as the rest of your main crew. Also try to keep them motivated by answering their question every month with a response they most likely want to hear, spending time with them in the dining hall, gifting them types of items they might like and returning their lost items. Instruct them often if they have a significant amount of motivation(3/4 or 4/4 gauge). If they are all out of motivation, use the rest of your instruction time on other fully motivated units. Instruction success and effectiveness seems mostly determined by RNG. If a "Perfect" instruction occurs that character's motivation will slightly increase. When it comes to deciding on a focus for characters always make sure to have two subjects being focused on and not just one. Also, always manually instruct and never waste your free days on seminars or resting. The characters will earn more instruction points overall by doing those things. Sometimes I ran out of divine pulses but I never quite had to reset. Now I'm doing a hardmode NG+, but I've also got the DLC and turned on the online for those spirits on the maps. Even after I wasted a ton of resources on units I dropped, I'm breezing through it. There are no threats that I can't handle 3 or 4 different ways. The bonuses from NG+ and DLC would make Maddening much more reasonable --- My sister's dog bit a hole in my Super Mario Land cartridge.
