Nah, I'm not surprised by that at all. You have Cloud, Tifa, Barret, and Aerith nearly the whole time, so you don't really need Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie to provide extra padding.

A 40 hour JRPG with four playable characters, at least until the extreme end, is rare. Makes me wonder if anything is added post-Shinra HQ so you can use Red XIII more.

I guess this does have the added benefit of giving the player more time to get used to Aeris, so both of the players who don't know about the spoiler can be more surprised.

Well sure, but it's just part of the overall story. And it wouldn't be the first time Square's done it! I'm sure there will at least be some time to use Red XIII. I know you get him late in Midgar, but they might try to pad out the Shinra Building a bit more to give him some more time.

I also noticed the characters' attacks seem a bit more personalized (Tifa looks like she does the 'many weak attacks' thing), which leaves me wondering what each character's gimmick will be.

Yeah, they definitely seem to be making each character "good at something very specific" the way FFX did in order to encourage you to rotate between them and use them all instead of just playing as Cloud the whole time.

There are multiple Cait Sith dolls. The first Cait Sith gets crushed getting the Black Materia from the Temple of the Ancients.

I'm assuming the one that shows up in Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus is yet another one.

FFVII has too many characters to only give you two party spots to rotate them through. The ratio is all wrong.

Although they could presumably still sneak a Cait Sith cameo into it since Reeve is in the game.

And Cait Sith makes a cameo in Midgar in the original game, too!

Even with the slow burn of easing Aeris to Aerith over the compilation, there are people who refuse the change. Cait Sith is a non-starter in that realm.

Well Yuffie makes sense to be pronounced in a Japanese way because Wutai is clearly very Japanese in style. Tifa also just makes sense to be pronounced with an 'ee' sound just by looking at it to me.

Tidus being pronounced that way when you've got an English name (Titus) at odds with that pronunciation and the character name clearly being related to the tides which, again, also at odds with the Japanese pronunciation. Yeah. I'll never say it like that.

Cait Sith is gonna be a hard one to swallow but I'll probably accept it cause like, the name was always weird to me anyway.

Aerith is gonna be tough too just because I'm gonna be hearing the cast of the game say it repeatedly and Aeris just sounds better.

Anyway preview looks awesome. Even that new character looks like he could be hype.

I just hope one of the "wrong" outfits for Don Corneo makes Cloud look like Lightning to a T.

Doesn't Tidus's Japanese name have a long E sound in it, too? But comparing it to "Titus" has always been a dumb argument. They come from different languages, so that doesn't matter. The whole "tide" argument makes way more sense after Cloud and Squall.

Aerith makes more sense because it's supposed to look and sound similar to "earth."
