It's amazing that they started this whole process knowing the Senate wouldn't carry through on anything. He was still impeached. He was still found to have done wrong by the house. None of that changes. They want to use the hearings and the way the GOP acted against GOP members of the House and Senate to try to flip some seats. The democrats knew the senate would never do anything, but they can hope that the GOPs sheer terror to the point of not even allowing key witnesses to testify plays well this fall. Pretty much. They're now on the record - several times - as voting against efforts to acquire definitive accounts from firsthand witnesses.
