My ten year is this year (we didn't have a 5 year although I expect that's common).

I hated most of my HS class but I could very well see myself being that guy that stays at the corner of the bar all night while judging the fuck out of everyone else. My two best friends from high school said they plan on going to it so worst case I'll just get to see them again - we live very far apart now so we don't get to see each other much in person.

Let me ask, especially for non baby boomer gamefaqs users, does the school itself organize these things, or is it more of a facebook thing?

I graduated in 2012 so mine is coming up in a few years.

I'm Gen X. At my school, the senior class secretary is responsible for organizing them - on paper at least. It is even mentioned before the class elections for that year.

In practice, it has been whomever shows the initiative, and anyone else who wants to help out. Only once was there an issue that I'm aware of. A couple that dated in HS got married and then had a nasty, nasty, ugly divorce and people chose sides. So I stepped in and set it up with some other neutral parties.

The school provides whatever resources they can (gym if you need it, chaperones for the bounce house, etc.) but we're all well off enough to bankroll it for ourselves. The last one was at a restaurant.

how do reunions work? Does the school host it, or do random people create an event on facebook for it?

I was never informed of any reunions. 20 year is next year but I doubt I will hear of any details about it like when and where, but I don't care enough to try and find out on my own.

Hell no, and high school was great for me. There are some guys from the hockey team and some old friends I wouldn't mind seeing, but that isn't worth going out of my way to spend time with a bunch of other people I don't care to see. Plus, the reunion would only cover a few of the teammates and friends because it's only people from my class.

I went to my 10 year high school reunion back in '13. It was kind of pointless. I went to a school in a small farm town of ~500 people, with a graduating class of 28. Only like 3 of my classmates had moved more than an hour away. Everyone but me seen each other regularly. I was never close with my classmates, I only went to school with them for my final two years of highschool. I got along well with everyone but by the time I transferred in, social circles were already closed off. So there was reminiscing for me lol.

Nobody was doing anything exceptional. Everyone but two of us (me and another) had started a family. The girls had mostly become nurses, the guys took over their family farms or worked for the local co-op. We met up in the park in our town, had a cookout, then hit the bar. They were all nice people but I've never felt the need to hang out with them again. Facebook friend requests were exchanged but that's about it.

I think it's 10 at first but it's not set in stone. After 15, my class started doing every 5 years because unfortunately people start having major life events over time and 10 years becomes an eternity. Illnesses, divorces, job transfers, there's even been a couple deaths.

I would have went but our planning committee was garbage and kept increasing the price they wanted people to pitch in with.

I think in total 11 people went out of the hundred

No. Ours was held independently at an American legion hall. My high school doesn't do official ones.

No, I'm not close with any of them so I don't see the point in going to such a function. I'm good, I figure that anybody that would show up is as well.

That's how all of them are now. They don't do it officially at most schools anymore because of

A)alcohol on campus
B) budget cuts
