Here, name times the government has been efficient with money over the last forever.

The people in need of the programs see how ineffective the programs are and favor a group that wants them to keep more of their money to help themselves

Why do you think young voters lean Democrat then become Republican later in life?

Good ideals with awful execution don't make you want to stand behind them.

The right has convinced them the reason for their suffering is immigrants and minorities so they vote for Republicans who promise to crack down on immigration and send out dog whistles because they cant openly come out against minorities.

Of course the reason for their suffering is the wealthy and corporations who own the Republican Party. You tell them that and its a conspiracy theory but those same people believe in Qanon.

I don't think Bloomberg is a Democrat tbh. I'd imagine he switched up since no one was able to run against Trump as a Republican.

People can disagree ideologically with programs that might benefit them. People might disagree on various methods.

It seems bad to only think of financial aspects of why someone would vote.

Now, I think people are bad at times at knowing what they want and do vote non ideologically and materially negative for themselves due to being confused.
But still.

I suspect Bloomberg switched over because a majority of young people tend to be left-leaning, or view Democrats favorably, and so he's hoping that he'll win by currying enough favor with that crowd rather than the aging boomers.

When? Who said that? I see people's physical bodies fail them long before their minds go.

Yea I suppose. Just seems like bullshit. Most people's bodies are more likely to fail them before their minds slip into dementia at 70+ years old. A failing mind is definitely not the first symptom of getting older.

And also people don't switch sides when they become elderly. That happens decades before. I'd say anywhere from 30 and up. And a 40 something year old person's mind isn't gone at that age

I forsee myself doing the same, and I'm gay, lol. But socially liberal as I may be, now that I'm a little older and actually know a bit about money Republicans are definitely smarter with it. It's unfortunate everybody is to one extreme or the other these days; I think both sides have some fair points that if combined could fix a lot of this country's problems. Shrug.

social issues are not separable from economic issues. queer people are disproportionately low income. you cannot support the queer community without supporting policy that is beneficial to poor people.

Okay... then Obama won them by an even larger margin in 2012 and 2008. Kerry won them in 2004. Gore won them in 2000. etc etc
