uh what this is just a cool batman movie, and I also appreciated how it made me think about how there are really poor people like Arthur out there who are hopelessly stuck at the bottom. Joaquin did a great job too, imo

But cmon guys it's a regular movie...

this one bugged me cause I actually avoided seeing it in theaters and waited for it to come out on digital release because people said it was so disturbing. and I wanted to be able to pause when I needed a break for intense stuff. but....when I finally watched it, it was not really that bad. I was imagining it to be much worse than it was. I still liked it though. good movie

There were some people who thought the Joker movie might inspire some shooter, some copycat of James Holmes, or an incel like Elliot Rodger. Expressing such a fear isn't the whole media freaking out. The media freak out was a myth from day one.

Films don't exist in a vacuum. Every film has meaning on some level. It attempts social commentary but it's insincere and exploitative. Either say something decent about mental illness or don't use it at all. Anything else is offensive.

Eh it was definitely trying to be more than just a "cool comic book movie" even though it failed at being more than that. It feels like it wanted to have a message but didn't want to commit to anything.
