Tbqh it seems like they were a little late to be able to catch the meme train on Harley Quinn. The popularity of the character hasn't been at its peak for awhile now and I think most people are over her at this point

DC hasn't reached the point where it can put its less popular characters into their own movie and it succeed, apparently.

Bummer, cause Birds of Prey was supposed to be good.

Iron Man had a cartoon, toyline and featured in plenty of games and TV shows.

They were well known in that if you asked people who Iron Man is they would know he's a comic book character, the same way that people who didn't give two shits about video games would still know that Mario and Zelda are video game characters. That doesn't mean that they were popular or that anybody really imagined it blowing up the way that it did.

I thought it was pretty good. It's got some good action, some good humor, it doesn't take itself seriously and anybody who tries to tell you that it's some feminist agenda movie is just pushing an agenda themselves. I thought Robbie really did well with the character in this one, the mannerisms and quirks really got to shine more and she nailed it.

Harley quinn, in this movie, has the insane power to make everyone with a gun not shoot her and instead run in to melee her instead.

More so, she can freely go around town sticking out like a rainbow colored clown, mid day, and cops just fuck off.

I don't know. Do you think they're accurately depicting the movie or do they talk out of their asses when you have numerous news outlets talking about how feminist it is? Are they talking about the content and feminist merits of the movie when they talk about the female ensemble cast, the female director and crew, the story of Harley breaking free from Joker and becoming independent and empowered or just making shit up? Or when an actor from the movie praises it for confronting misogyny?

I'm just saying, this movie isn't subtle about its feminist message. Whether you like that or not is up to you, but that kind of movie doesn't seem to perform especially well.

If you actually watched the movie you would see that there's really not some kind of "feminist message." It's just about women. I mean, for fuck's sake, Harley didn't even "break free" of the Joker in some kind of empowering way, he kicked her to the curb and the entire first act of the movie is basically her being a drunken wailing mess about it.

I think most people are talking about how misogynistic black mask is, and how the fight scenes are super curbstomps against men, but against women it is even.

The first is just a stupid complaint in general, Black Mask is an unhinged asshole to everybody, were people expecting that he's the sort of villainous criminal overlord who would temper his personality in order to not offend women?

As for the second, people saying that are just proving that they haven't watched the movie.

Apparently not, because there weren't any scenes where the women went up against bad guy women, so saying that they curbstomped men but it was an even fight against women doesn't even make sense.

The misogyny of black mask is overblown. There's only 2 real moments in the movie that showcase it and one of them the woman doesn't even have a name.
