Revenue is the most accurate representation of what the masses enjoyed. Assuming that people are going to see it more because of the amount of enjoyment they get from seeing it.

Unless you don't think enjoyment is the same as quality. Which is fine, but I would disagree.

I saw a meme of this woman asking the director of Parasite why he chose to use Korean actors. Is that a question someone actually asked him?

The pretext to that was Bong's most recent films saw him branching out to the foreign market with English-speaking actors (Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, Steven Yeun, etc....).

So it was basically "Why did you choose to go back to all Korean instead of moving forward with the international cast like you have before?" just worded oddly.

Alternatively, if the film was 100% the same but was in English with all white actors would it no longer be woke and a perfectly reasonable choice for best picture?

1st question. I liked the other films better (once upon a time, Joker, 1917). I've already said that. People can have opinions and it not be racist.

2nd, it isn't a "woke" film really it was just the only one that has no white people

3rd if it was based around white people I don't think I'd like it any more or less. I mean I liked the Asian "Grudge" and "The Ring" better than the white people version.

I don't know if I really agree with that. Revenue is a representation of what the masses have paid to watch. Their enjoyment level doesn't really factor into that. People only going to the cinemas to watch safe blockbusters doesn't mean they enjoy other stuff less. They just have different priorities.

Marvel movies make a shitload of money because they can be something the whole family can go and watch for example.

Marvel and Disney movies constantly make new records. It is because my mom will take my nieces to Dr. Doolittle or whatever the fuck just to shut the kids up for 2 hours

No but it is kind of telling how you regulate Parasite just to be a "foreign film" hence it's winning but then treat 1917 as....well not foreign because it had white males.

So... The film is only the wrong choice because you don't like it enough? That's perfectly valid! Why are people picking it only picking it because it's woke though? Aren't they allowed to think it was the best film with no strange woke motivations, how is that not valid?
