Majora's Mask for me. Very popular game, but I just...didn't like it. The whole thing was boring and annoying. To say nothing of despite it using the Expansion Pak, it looked WORSE than Ocarina of Time.

I don't hate breath of the wild, but every time I play it, I feel frustrated. It had huge potential, but it's just not quite right. It's too much like every other open world game, not enough like Zelda.

Ive beaten all of them except Triforce Heroes and no I dont hate any of them. The 2 NES games werent that fun for me though

It really is an incredible game. When the Switch starts adding N64 games, Im playing this ASAP.

If it makes you guys feel better, a ton of people hated MM when it came out. Personally, I love it but the reasons why are not typical reasons people like zelda games in the first place. It seemed to have some weird renaissance where people liked it later. Reminds me of final fantasy 12 in that regard.

Anyway, I hate zelda 2. It's a combination of being too different but also being bad. I at least somewhat enjoy every other zelda game.

MM was pretty well liked when it came out, it was just contentious as to whether or not it was better than OoT. At least that's what I remember from posting on the board around then other than it being an absolute garbage fire of a place

The closest one for me would be Phantom Hourglass. I really didn't like the gameplay loop, and the stylus only controls were irritating. I never even bothered with Spirit Tracks. Fucking gimmicky ass bulshit.

It's fucking boring, I don't get why CE loves it so much.

To be fair, I dislike Twilight Princess equally as much. It's also super boring but in a different way.

Breath of the wild. Fuck this stupid open world game fad. Walking around and seeing nothing but "green" for hours. The music out in the world just sounds like a child picking up some random instruments and shaking them. Shitty dungeons just scattered about. Stupid ass durability system.

Makes sense. Zelda 2 had a lot of people saying "wtf...why is this game 2D (what we called it because terms like sidescroller and platformer were rarely used back then)? I don't like this. Not what I was expecting."

That's because the top down view was the most defining and noticeable aspect of 1, so people expected the same for 2. But only the world map in 2 is top down, and it functions like an RPG world map where the details are watered down, there's no combat, the character is way smaller, etc. Just used for walking from one place to another.

However, the top down view for the world map in Zelda 2 allowed Nintendo to include pictures on the back of the game and in ads and magazines that fooled people into thinking it was going to another top down view game like 1. Frustrating.

But all that aside, Zelda 2 is a terrific game. There are very few sidescrolling games for the NES that feel as good as Zelda 2. The controls are super tight and smooth. The combat is fun and requires the player to learn when to use your sword and when to block with your shield, while also requiring you to learn enemy movements and strategize. You gotta be patient in a lot of situations, and you gotta think quickly and react fast in a lot of situations. Exploring towns and caves and stuff is fun. The soundtrack is much better than 1. Boss fights are more intense and exciting, and feel better when you beat them than in 1. The only thing that could be improved is the leveling up mechanics and the difficulty spike of the final dungeon, but those are just semi small gripes.

Well that should satisfy my Zelda 2 defending for another few months.

There about even for me. But I thought travelling on tracks was more frustrating than on water, and blowing into the damn mic didn't work well for me.

I cant get past the first 20 minutes of breath of the wild before quitting. People complaining about Majoras Mask being frustratingly limiting when the game gives you plenty of time to beat a Dungeon while this game you cant even use a weapon.

I didn't hate it but I never even bothered to finish Twilight Princess. Felt really underwhelming to me after Wind Waker.

The time loop mechanic doesn't even bother me, even though I'd consider it an antithesis to a large-world exploration game. But any time I start warming to the idea of replaying MM, Goron Rolling pops into my head and cools me right the fuck back down. So I guess that's as close as I get to 'hating' a Zelda game.

dafuq...Goron rolling is a lot of fun, and the Goht fight is awesome because of it

Metroid 1 is pretty rough, yeah. The little entertainment I got out of it was from seeing how much better games like Super and ZM are. Like "wow is this bird thing supposed to be Ridley lmaooooo".

Didn't exactly hate it, but Skyward Sword was the one I disliked the most. It's the only one out of the ones I've beaten where I've had no desire to go back and replay it.

The first one on the Wii because it was unplayable and clunky. I traded the game, Wii, and a few other Wii games in for a 360 and never looked back.

Don't hate any of them, but I can't see myself replaying Spirit Tracks any time soon. Fuck the goddamn train. Only good aspect of the game was the Tower of Spirits.

Minish Cap is one of the most monotonous and tedious pieces of crap I've ever played. Playing to 100% is a miserable experience, playing minimalist is low on content and still tedious, you just can't win with this game.

It genuinely baffles me that people think it's an underrated gem in the series, it's not, at all. It's literally Star Fox Adventures levels of bad, in fact, I think I would rather play that, at least that ends sooner. Minish Cap never ends, I spent the entire last dungeon just wanting the damn game to end already.

For those of you who might think I'm exaggerating or that I'm impatient, let me put this way; I think DK64 is fun, it's one of my all time favorite games, a game that's generally regarded as tedious is a game I find fun and vastly underrated.
