I have Korean friends that swear sushi is Korean in origin. But then again they still blindly low key hate the Japanese for shit that happened in their grandparents' generation so that just might be them not wanting to accept that Japan invented it

in my area 95% of the Asian restaurants are owned and operated by Chinese people and will sell anything that will make money.

I think the only time ive had sushi made by an actual Japanese person was when I was in japan

Yeah, some Asian restaurant owners would specifically choose a place with the least amount of competition and use the area's ignorance of Asian food origins to market their restaurant. There's a restaurant in my small hometown and it's something called "Pho Ramen Dumpling Noodles". My town being ignorant thinks all of those things are Chinese food now lol.

I've been to a few buffet style all you can eat KBBQ places that also have sushi. It's always this poorly rolled stuff that has been sitting too long, just put there to tempt you into eating less meat.

Ehh I could get into this argument in depth but let's just say I do agree that Japan needs to officially apologize on a global level and maybe go the route Germany did with the nazis. At the same time, I could also say Japan has apologized many times with China and Korea just not giving af bc apparently it's not good enough for them.

yeah, a lot of japanese restaurants, especially, aren't actually operated by japanese people

giveaways for the shitty ones are the types of names they choose, large menus, and mediocre food

WWII was just a continuation of a long history of Japanese meddling in Korean affairs.

its not a sincere apology when they continue to honor their war criminals at yasukuni shrine and have statements like this bullshit on a gov website
However, there are numerous theories as to the actual number of victims, and the Government of Japan believes it is difficult to determine which the correct number is.

As a Korean American, yes, we do, but I far prefer Japanese style sushi. Fun fact tho: The vas majority of sushi restaurants in America are actually ran by Koreans.

The IJN lacks the offending, universally reviled symbols Germany has. You're not going to see the outrage that the swastika has if you showed the Rising Sun to anyone not from China or Korea.
