I've been playing it for a week and I'm really loving this game. Great gameplay, exploration, visuals, atmosphere, challenge, sense of progression, and it's looking like there's tons of content so far. Last thing I did was get the Monarch Wings and get bopped by the Watcher Knights. I think I'm gonna come back to them later.

Lots of secrets. It was kinda overwhelming after a while. Many things I would have never figured out without guides. Such a beautiful game. Can't wait for the sequel!!!!

Got a lot done today, 25 charms, 8 Charm notches, 7 HP, and the ability to swim in acid. So far Quick Focus is a godsend for boss battles.

The story seems to be light on plot but heavy in lore. I kinda like that you learn the player character is not the Hollow Knight.

I'm playing through blind for now but with the gigantic size of the world and all the hidden nooks and crannies, I feel like I missed dozens of things already. I'll probably consult a guide whenever I get close to end.

I found all health and Soul upgrades as well as all the Grubs and almost all the charms. Defeated The Hollow Knight and cleared the game with 102%. I'm aware there's multiple endings and I've still got tons of stuff to do.

Oh, and Trial of the Fool can go to hell.

Thanks! I started using a guide for the stuff I missed and everywhere I look, I see a mention of how ball-bustingly difficult the DLC content is. Hopefully my controller can take a beating!

So NKG is completely folding me in half right now. I made it to his second phase once in about 20 attempts. Some attempts don't even last 10 seconds!

When you finally master the fights it feels damn good.

I think Hollow Knight was my GotY for 2018, I didnt expect it to be THAT good.

Still getting thrashed by NKG but I'm definitely getting better at the fight. One thing that trips me up is when he does his ground dash attack before jumping in the air - most of the time he'll dash towards you and you can Shade Cloak through him, but occasionally he'll go to where your dash ends instead and hits you. I can never react to that, then I make lots of stupid mistakes and end up dying. But this is probably my favorite boss so far.

I love NKG and pure vessel. Both fights you can do almost entirely with nail arts for maximum efficiency. Also be aware NKG is a dream fight so you can use breakable charms without risk, most notably the one that increases damage. That makes life easier. You should be able to hit him with at least 1 nail art after every single attack.

The pantheons without bindings are fun. A few of the fights are complete unfun misery with the bindings on. The only thing I never beat was all bindings pantheon of hollow nest. The collector fight being so far in and so fucking miserable and poorly made just got me to quit. Primal aspids strongest boss in the game. Honorable mention to absolute radiance on radiant being a bastard. I swear some of those patterns are borderline undodgeable.

You can legit just walk away from this attack as long as you aren't by the wall. You even have time to walk away while charging a nail art and release a great slash as he jumps up to hit him. The more you move around during this attack, the scarier it is.

Yeah I'm mostly sticking to nail attacks, I'm using Unbreakable Strength, Nailmaster's Glory, Sharp Shadow, and Mark of Pride (and the forced Grimmchild). I kept dying on his third (and hopefully last) phase so I know I'm capable of winning. Unfortunately I had to get up early for work so I had to stop playing haha

Are Primal Aspids those assholes that shoot three fireballs? God I hate those things, they make the spike-floor wave of Trial of the Fool so tough. And I can only imagine how terrifying the Pantheons will be. Getting the last 7% to reach 112% is gonna be longer than the other 105% combined!

Woo I finally beat him! Then I went on to beat the obnoxious Trial of the Fool after like 6 attempts! Now all that's left is the Path of Pain and the Pantheons

Path of Pain beaten! I thought it'd be fun to time myself and I ended up finishing in 1 hour and 10 minutes. I didn't realize the room with the spears was the last room, it took the most time and I nearly shit myself when I saw you had to fight those two guys afterwards but luckily I entered with full Soul so I just spammed Descending Dark until they died. A huge challenge but extremely fun to overcome!

As much as I enjoyed the PoP, I'd be super pissed if I died to those enemies lol but yeah the music there is lovely which is great since you know you're gonna be hearing it for a while!

Also I got the Hunter's Mark and cleared the first two Pantheons. I think I'm gonna skip the bindings and Ascended/Radiant stuff though.

Yeah I put off buying the Mega Man Zero collection for this reason. I want to play it so badly but I wanna finish Hollow Knight while everything is still fresh in my head. Then I'm sure I'm gonna have to put off buying Animal Crossing so I can finish MMZ

Thats what they all say. Your battlelust will be hardened soon enough. You'll be wasting hours killing radiant markoth before you know it for no appreciable benefit to you whatsoever.

Agreed man. Such a great fight. Absolute radiance still makes me angry just to think about though. Was so happy when I finally beat PoH and radiant absolute radiance. I can still hear the music in my mind and the sound of the sun lasers.

He is also a dream fight. I HIGHLY recommend using fragile strength charm. Being able to oneshot the zotelings makes the fight tremendously easier. Also pretty convenient to have mark of pride and quick slash on as well.

Yeah I upgraded my Fragile charms to Unbreakable charms and I pretty much keep Unbreakable Strength and Sharp Shadow glued to me. Then I switch around Quick Slash, Mark of Pride/Longnail, Soul Eater/Catcher, Nailmaster's Glory, or Quick/Deep Focus as I need them. I managed to beat him 4 times so Bretta can leave forever lol

Then I delivered the fragile flowers to the three recipients. Now to wrap up the Pantheons!

Beat the Pantheon of the Sage but now I'm getting creamed by Pure Vessel. It is pretty hard for me to fathom how I'm going to beat the Pantheon of Hallownest. Looks like I'll be spending quite a bit of time in the Hall of Gods this weekend

The thing with pure vessel is that he is very fair so once you get him down, you'll be able to reliably beat him, probably without taking damage. Same with NKG. Absolute radiance is the opposite. I'm not even sure if it's possible to do it reliably but if it is, that takes FAR more practice and skill than beating it once which is already far and away the hardest thing in the game.

I hated the regular Radiance fight so I have no idea how I'll manage Absolute Radiance. Especially at the end of such a long boss rush...as for Pure Vessel, he is pretty fun but between him and NKG, I learned that I completely suck at avoiding moves where long sharp things pop out of the ground haha

Usually the key for those moves is not to move at first. Like half the time you don't need to move at all, and when you do, do it at the last second with a tiny movement. I think most of the time when someone gets hit, they move into the danger area out of panic, then can't move back out in time. Oh, and against pure vessel you can jump as well. The hitbox is larger near the base of the nails IIRC. Can even jump and attack down to nail bounce and have a very good chance of not getting hit.

Yeah I need to keep calm when the swords are about to pop out of the ground. I stunned him three times in one of my attempts so I think I was close to winning!

Haven't played in a few days, but I still can't beat Pure Vessel whatsoever. I had a much easier time with NKG. Surprisingly one thing that's killing me a lot is when he does a regular jump on your head instead of diving into the ground and making swords pop up. It's rare but when he starts doing that, that attempt is pretty much over. I don't get to see his void tendril attack often so when he does use it, I always get hit. Idk I just suck at this fight lol there's no way I'm beating the PoH

We are opposites it seems. NKG was much harder for me. Not great on advising for actual combat but for two things that helped me if you havent tried - Sharp Shadow? Name might be wrong but the charm that makes your dash do damage and then when you stun him heal instead of taking the free hits. I dodged through him when i could and being able to take an extra hit usually got me more hits than punishing his stun.

And yeah Radiance puts both Pure and NK to shame so best of luck if attempting the final pantheon.

Oh, I just beat him. But I think I got lucky because he didn't regularly jump on my head as much this attempt. But wow my hands were sweating so much the controller nearly slipped out of my hand! Now to see if I can beat him consistently...

Sharp Shadow is my favorite charm in the game, next to Unbreakable Strength. Those two never come off. And yeah I really enjoyed NKG, my biggest problem with him is the spikes that pop out of the ground which is apparently my bane in these boss fights haha. And I'm still dreading Absolute Radiance and just thinking about how I'll inevitably die at the end of the PoH is making me wanna cry.
