As each character levels up, their base stats, like strength and HP, will increase. They will also obtain Training Points to help boost their stats further or learn new moves and abilities.
Boosting Stats: Use Training Points to boost your characters base HP, MP, Strength, Stamina, Spirit, Intellect, or Luck. You can also reset your already-allocated points at a specific location in the world.
Moves: Magic spells and attacks you learn will be automatically added to the move ring menu. You can bring up the menu and select a move while exploring the field or battling. Using moves costs MP.
Abilities will grant special bonuses to help you on your adventure. You must equip learned abilities in order to get the bonus effect, such as stat increases, boosts during battle, and more! Learn abilities by allocating Training Points or by interacting with certain characters you meet along your journey. Once you switch to a higher class, youll learn and be able to equip even more abilities.
Abilities: Equip an ability to receive its bonus effect. There are some abilities that only certain characters can learn and others that are locked to specific classes. In total, there are over 300 abilities.
Chain Abilities: Chain Abilities can be used by all party members. Learn more abilities by allocating Training Points and meeting people along your journey. You may learn chain abilities from quite unexpected acquaintances...
Locked Abilities: Unlock abilities that are class-specific once youve switched to the relevant class. You dont have to equip class-locked abilities to take advantage of their effect

Highlighting the new additions. The long and short of it is this isn't just a simple remake. They are actually developing new systems and altering existing systems to adjust. It looks pretty comprehensive.

Weird they done nothing for Chrono Trigger but they are doing stuff for Secret of Mana.

This actually looks like a damn good game, wish they'd give the other two this treatment.

Actually that's a great combo for the black rabite. Angela wrecks the early game, Charlotte is needed for saint saber, and Duran is a really strong attacker second only to Kevin.

Hawk, Riese, Charlotte. Pretty much the 3 weakest characters.

You're going to have a very hard time beating the black rabite without Bishop Charlotte and you need either Angela or Duran as Main character to even fight it.

They outsourced the first in the series. Which turned out pathetic. So they are doing this one to show the fans. They can do better.

If you force in Duran, he's there for either MT healing or saint saber, but not both -- which, yeah, means reliance on the black market since Hawk+Riese lack both MT healing and sabers and you need to negate black saber somehow and stardust herbs are finite, especially with 3x fighters. So I concede for black rabite but contend that for the game duration that Duran+Angela+Charlotte is the worst combo because of skill overlap.

Best bet is probably dark Hawk and light Riese, so you get both stat up buffs (or counters to his debuffs) and stat down debuffs. Runner up combo is L/L Hawk for Counter Magic and then dark Riese for debuffs.

(Also I'm pretty sure Hawk > Duran because his default attack is doublehit)

Duran can only Saint Saber himself. Charlotte is the only one with multi Target saint saber.

Also it's not the best combo, it's just not the worst. The best to fight the black rabite is going to be Duran MC, Kevin, Charlotte. The strongest party in general is probably Angela, Kevin, and Dark Charlotte since moon saber + 2 magic users invalidates the whole game except the black rabite.

True, but it's so slooow. Magic in general is strong but the menu interface plus animation makes it such a damper. I hope this gets somewhat fixed in the new version.

My personal fave party is Kevin Lise Hawk. Kevin gets MT healing, light lise, dark hawk. Melee phalanx for the mooks and debuffs for the bosses, elemental leveraging be damned.

With these changes, I'm getting the feeling that my usual builds won't work as expected. Which is actually a breath of fresh air.
