Known in Japan as God Slayer

it's too bad they couldn't keep the name in the west. Though I know why 1980's Nintendo of America was nervous about the name God Slayer

It's a top 5 all time game for me, i'm struggling to pay that much for the SNK collection on Switch just to own it again but I probably will.

Really? I think I played it through 3 times as a younger kid. I still remember all the music pretty vividly. I don't even remember where we got it, maybe preowned at Funcoland

well my brother was the one who bought it and he decided to sell it to my best friend right before we moved cross country. I don't remember how long we owned it. I know I was going through the game at the time I lost access to it. maybe I would have beaten it eventually had we not left it on the east coast.

my brother never really appreciated the jrpg style. I think literally the only jrpg's he has ever played are Crystalis, Final Fantasy 1 and one time he tried Final Fantasy 7 just cause some guy wrote an article about it for some reason in PC Gamer magazine. about how some console games are decent and his adventure of venturing into the console gamer magazine (might have been Electronic Gaming Monthly) they shared a building with and trying it out. my brother was inspired by that article to give it a try. but he stopped after the first boss. (yes, in the power reacter. that boss. he barely touched the game)

he's always been a pc master race kind of guy

Crystalis is my second favorite NES game (just behind The Magic of Scheherazade).

Since I got the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection for dirt cheap this week I'll probably end up playing through it again in the near future.
