This is only tangentially related but I was thinking between half a bil ad buys and paying his staff he has to have crossed the 1 billion threshold by now...

But quick math, he had 1000 staffers in January and we know he pays 6k/month. That's not even 100 mil even if you assume he pays people for a year. It might cross that line when you factor in the free iPhones and laptops he throws in but it's still nothing to him.

Every time I think I have a handle on the scale of his wealth I get blown away by some detail of what it actually looks like. What we're seeing now is truly not even Bloomberg's final form.

This is absolutely horrific. I've never heard of the company being able to go after someones pain and suffering money, but that shit should be illegal everywhere, and she shouldn't have to fight to make it that way.

I don't see how anybody at that company reviewing their specific case can look at that, and say "Yeah, we're going to go after their $175,000."

Policy is made on the benefit to the whole. To find the system that provides the best benefit to everyone.

Now your argument may be that Medicare for all is the best benefit to everyone. While someone else may argue our current system is fine and that switching to that system will cause financial hardships on too many others or decrease hospital care.

You aren't evil just because you disagree on the position, and I would expect better from you of all people, Chris.

When deciding policy, your policy should be dictated on what you think is best for America as a whole. Everyone has a different opinion of what is the most important things in America.

And giving in areas can pull from areas you feel aren't a big deal while others value greater.

No one is being evil in their opinions. They value different areas more or differently, or just plain off feel a change wouldn't be a benefit at all.

I read a thread talking about a woman who lost her child in an accident and the gut wrenching experience after.

I come back to this thread and don't really make a political statement, just say it really hit me hard. I am then told that because that story hit me hard that I have and let me see the quote here... "You people have the emotional sensibilities of teenage girls."

This past year as I struggled with a medical situation I promised myself I was going to be myopically selfish in how I live my life from now on and the things I choose to participate in. I owe no one any of my time if I don't wish to give it. If you think I do, I don't care. I will not be lectured by anyone who can read that thread and whose first thought is to insult the people who it resonates with. That is evil to me, it doesn't have to be for you, and either way I don't particularly care.

If the question is whether something is alive, a tree is alive and cannot think.

If the question is whether something can think, we need to consider the case of a computer. Or, if you argue that its hardware is similar to a brain, a distributed cloud computing network where there is obviously no physical "brain."

Also, why is a computer not biologically alive? Because it's made of silicon rather than carbon? That seems very prejudiced to me!
