Coolest mobile suit IMO (Zaku II).

I always liked the ones that were more like soldier grunt units than super robots with wings that blow everything up easily.

I placed an order, should be coming in tomorrow.

It contains RG GP01 Full Burnern (really looking forward to this one).

RG Justice (love the design and the colours, and will help break up wit the white of other kits on display, but mostly because I love the design).

And RG Zeta (while I also really like the design, I also read a couple of horror stories about this one...).

So yeah, I am going to be busy for a while with these.

I just completed GP01.

I don't have a good display case or anything yet, so they are on a shelf.

Also, I suck ar panellining, so that's why it is lacking. I need to practice first before I'll give it a try.

I just got into gunpla a couple months ago. I've been doing a lot of HG ones lately. I'm using those as practice before I get any better grade ones.

I've been doing a lot of them lately. I might be getting a little carried away withu new hobby, but damn is it fun. The past few days I put together a Gouf Custom from 08th MS Team (which looks badass) and a Leo from GW. That makes 10 total since 2-3 months ago and I still have a couple on the way. >_>

I got into it recently aswell.

My first kit was the HG Scramble Gundam, got that from my wife as a Christmas present.

For my birthday (few weeks later) she got me RG Banshee Norn (that thing is fucking amazing, the transformation is PERFECT).

At the end of January I got RG Build Strike Full Package (on the same level of the RG Banshee Norn in terms of quality/engineering) and RG Destiny.

And 2 days ago I got the other three I posted earlier. I am hooked as fuck.

As someone who's built over a hundred gunpla kits, as much as I love Zakus, for some reason I just dont have much fun with their builds. The usual mobile suits are always a blast tho, check out HG star build strike or kamiki burning, they're a blast.
I recently just finished the MG ball ver ka and god it was such a fun and different build. Next I'm gonna start the HG wargraymom and omnimon amplified kits.

In order to A keep the thread going and B to show off (and maybe get a little feedback) I'll post my RG Build Strike Full Package, which is an amazing kit and shares a first place with Banshee Norn as best kit I own:

I couldn't get the arms just right for the pose, but I dig it none the less. Again, no panel lining because I suck at it, so once I get better, I'll revisit this one.

Hey thanks for sharing! I've had the pbandai sparkly version of this kit in my backlog for a while now, might finally start on it if it's a fun build!

Try a Tamiya panel line wash for the best results. If you want something fast, use a Gundam panel line marker, you can be as sloppy as you want, but use a hard rubber eraser to remove the excess and you'll get professional looking results in minutes. Panel lining is the easiest way to enhance the look of your kit. I also highly recommend picking up some Tamiya extra thin cement to get rid of seam lines. Those two steps don't take a long time and produce extremely high quality looking models.

Lovely. Like the pose too.

And yes, I suck at panel lining too, but I do feel this is a great kit to practice it on, since the white really could use some to help break it up a little.

I've been looking up tutorials on it, and some of them make it seem really easy.

I also plan to start with Zeta next week, but I do feel a little intimidated by it. It's the most extensive kit I currently own.

Yeah. I'm going to come back to it. I'll probably get the one I'm working with done then do the lines on both.

I plan on getting the Zeta Gundam at some point too.

Which version? I have the RG Zeta and I've read lots of different stories about it, some people are really happy with theirs, other called it a handgrenade that falls apart with just a breeze of wind.

I know that if I just put in the time and effort it'll be fine. But people do seem to recommend the HG Zeta Revive if you plan on transforming it to Waverider mode. I have no such plans, and I just love the way the Zeta looks, it's a classic for me.

I can show you pics as I start building it, which I kind of plan to post in this topic anyway.

Just a HG one for now. I want to get a lot of practice in before I get into higher grades. A few of the various ones I've done have that same problem with being so brittle. It's usually just a couple of parts though. I've had to super glue the little fins(?) on top of Char's Zaku and the Gouf I have. Same for the V horn things on my Wing Gundam. I've almost lost them a few times and just don't want to risk it.

I like the Zeta Gundam too and other suits from the show even if I'm not a big fan of the show itself. It looks more detailed yet still relatively simple looks wise. The simplicity is why I really dig the suits from the older shows for the most part.

Yeah, pics would be great. I

Yeah, pics would be great. I'm working on lining my 08th Gundam. I did the OG Gundam too, but kept it to a minimum to make it more like the show.
RG isn't really that much harder, you just have to be willing to take the time for it. It takes a lot more patience, but at the same time I find the RG kits a lot more fun, more rewarding.

I want to get RG Sazabi and then start with MG. The ones I am really eyeing are Barbatos and Dynamesz they are really amazing from what I reading/seeing.

I am gonna start with Zeta tomorrow morning (it's 7:30pm at the time of writing this), and I'll update with pics along the way.

I have several questions....

Yes this is according to the instructions. There are no balljoints where the legs attach to the torso, while they are pretty firm in place, I have mixed feelings.

He is going to be pretty tall though.

Finally got some time to finish this guy. Even with my sloppy lining it looks better. It probably could use some more/better work, but it's just so brittle. Everything likes to come undone. I do hate how the waist is connected to the body. The front of the body snaps in to this forward facing piece on the waist instead of coming straight down on it. It falls off too easy.

On to the Rick Dom I guess. Always loved how those looked.

And it's done.

I'll give a short review, but also will try to keep in mind the age of this kit.

He isn't nearly as bad as you'd read someplaces on the Gunpla Reddit for example. It holds together well, but you can tell lots of compromises were made for the transformation (something I don't want to mess around with).

The legs are definatly a weak part in that regard, the Zeta doesn't have any knees in favour of it's transformation, limiting posability when standing him. On an action base this problem is far less significant. The front and sideskirt "flaps" are part of the legs, rather than the torso. The way the legs connect to the torso is absolutely tragic, but is a compromise for the transformation

The torso itself is fine and though a bit hollow, it's nothing bad. The arms are great, can move around while still feeling firm and hold any pose well. The head is lovely.

The backpack looks exactly how you want it to look, and is very posable thanks to the transformation.

This kit was very ambitious for it's time, and while I appreciate what Hasbro tried to do, it ultimatly is a detriment to the figure itself. I love the way it looks (but I kind of have a weak spot for the Zeta) and when you look at it like in the picture it looks fine. But it all kind of crumbles a bit on closer examination.

It is not a bad figure by any means, but just limited by the technology of it's time. This figure absolutely deserves a RG 2.0. version.

I am still very happy with it, but it is kind of hard to recommend if you played around with more recent RG kits like the Sazabi, Unicorn (and variants) Build Strike and others.
