Exactly, Democratic Senators would face heavy pushback in the primaries if they didn't go along with Sanders because other candidates would run that are pro Sanders

I honestly think the media and people are severely underplaying Bernie Sanders and his chances of winning if he gets the nomination. It was impossible for Donald Trump to win last election cycle without the support of Bernie Sanders primary voters. People need to stop underselling the cross over economic populist appeal that Bernie and Trump have.

If Bloomberg, Biden, or Pete win the primary I will not cast a vote for either of them.

the people kinda don't really matter, tho. especially when everyone with power is gonna be backing Trump

Bernie is getting votes left, right and centre, to the point where he's winning caucuses and primaries like they're nothing. His voterbase is large and diverse, and a lot of people who were disillusioned or otherwise put off by the corporate shit show that 2016 was are mobilising this year and throwing their support behind Bernie.

You can be pessimistic about 2020 all you want, but the fact is that all that a candidate needs to become president is enough delegates, and enough votes. Hillary Clinton fucked that up by being propelled by media bias, losing a significant chunk of Bernie's voterbase in the process, and alienating the world with cheap, hollow rhetoric. 12% of potential Bernie voters are polled as voting for Trump after Hillary secured the nomination. This year, that voterbase is more active than ever, and Bernie Sanders is currently on track to get the nomination.

The second you go "it doesn't matter, other forces will bring Bernie down, it won't last forever and we'll just have another four years of Trump", you've played into the hands of Trump supporters. Look at their language over the past 6+ months - they taunt people with "four more years of Trump", never breaking from the script to the point where you might start to feel discouraged. Their rhetoric is united and strong - Donald Trump is going to get re-elected. None of the democrats are going to be able to beat Trump. He's going to be president for another four years, and there's nothing you can do about it. All it does is sow doubt, make people a bit more critical and cautious of the Democratic nomination process as it goes on.

The best way to counter blind Trumper horseshit is to get politically active, back a candidate and stand behind them. There's a reason Bernie Sanders has so much support - he's consistent, he's progressive and he's tenacious. You've already lost if you're giving into the Trumper doom and gloom now - Sanders has a massive demographic that goes across age groups and races that other candidates haven't managed to unite, and the thunder he's generating can directly challenge Trump.

You've talked about being depressed before, about not getting your hopes up about shit like this because you expect to be let down again. I understand the pessimism after 2016. But going out and saying "Bernie's doomed, even if the people want him rich people will sink him, there's no hope" only plays into the hands of Trump's supporters, and it furthers a message of hopelessness and lack of faith that warns other people to stay away. Even if you're not willing to get back on the Bernie bandwagon, understand that his sort of rhetoric only strengthens Trump's chances of re-election and the rhetoric of his followers, and further harms the chances of any candidate you might prefer.

If you hate Trump that much, dooming and glooming over his supposedly inevitable re-election only serves to make that reality more likely. If you're disillusioned, fine, but rolling over like this and ceding the next 4 years to Trump out of despair and lack of hope only serves to spread that same doubt to other people and weaken their trust in this election as well.

I'm a classical liberal (American "libertarian", but that doesn't really reflect well on my views) for the most part, and I prefer him over any of the other major people running in the US. Most candidates in the US just want to set up a corporate welfare state and it's hard to get behind that. It's unfortunate that none are willing to take on the biggest form of corporate welfare, intellectual property, but what can you do.

While I consider Bernie the most genuine man left in the running, his economics are predicated on a school of monetary thought which takes the monetary state of affairs as a given. The unfortunate reality is that this state of affairs wherein there are no consequences for assuming more debt than can realistically paid off in the near future is propped up by some absolutely ugly geopolitical mechanisms, without which our economy would likely collapse.

Never mind my philosophical disagreements with the viability his economics, the issue with the external monetary implications are perhaps my greatest ethical scruple. Mind you, none of the other candidates give a damn either, left or right save for a few tea partiers and the occasional economically savvy left/right anarchist, but it's something I wish more were cognizant of, especially well-meaning politicians like Bernie.

Apologies for the rant, a little drowsy.

As you say in your second paragraph, Republicans have no problem increasing spending while decreasing revenue so I don't really see that as something unique to Bernie. If I were to design my ideal candidate it wouldn't look much like Bernie, but like I say he is simply the best guy running in my opinion.

I'll be honest, as much as I like and respect Bernie, I worry about how ineffectual he would be as a leader for this reason.

Obama suffered a similar problem, and he had a lot more friends.

The system is broken because you need a host of crony nepotites to bully legislation through.

Obama was always an establishment Democrat, and people who deluded themselves into thinking he wasn't might have been disappointed, but the reason he had friends was precisely because he never intended to be any kind of radical.

Not only that, most of the judges will hate him seeing as they're A) All appointed by more moderate Democrats, or just Republicans, and B) are old enough to remember when being a communist was a bad thing in America. Sanders in office will literally be 4 years of gridlock. Trump is making things happen while the media frenzies on getting rid of him, Sanders will literally accomplish nothing because everyone will agree they want to destroy him.

Media and talk show hosts hate him because their allegiance lies with the money. See, your argument is basically, no one likes him so why vote for him...?? Is that your argument? Well then if America's interests aren't ever considered and only the opinions of people who bow down to the dollar are ever valued, then the country won't ever improve. it's GOOD that these people hate him. That's a symptom of his revolutionary nature. He's real.
