did you see the movie before you read the graphic novel? cuz i did, and i still dunno exactly how much influence that might or might not have had on my opinion on the matter.

I hadn't read the novel going into the movie but knew how it ended and the squid shit is corny af and Dr Manhattan seemed to make way more sense as a scapegoat.

The show of course went with the squid and is still pretty interesting

My problem with making Manhattan the scapegoat is this:

I feel like theres zero chance that Russia is attacked by what they believe to be Dr. Manhattan, an entity they know to be working directly for the US Government, and they dont immediately retaliate. It would take them time to learn that New York was also attacked, theres just no way that they dont launch nukes before that happens.
