I wanted to give this game a chance, so Ive slogged through it for a decent amount of time, but something just isnt clicking with me. I actually wanted to quit after two hours, but this game has such a cult following, I didnt want to miss out by giving up early, but Im punch drunk at this point.
Am I missing something here? Its very atmospheric, but so was Nier Automata, and that game was infinitely more fun than NV. It feels like a chore playing this. --- Ain't no mystery god, peace to the true and living. I Self Lord And Master. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Vanilla Fallout is straight up trash if we are being honest. There's a reason the modding community is so big with Bethesda RPG's.

A mixture of both. There are points where Im actually very engaged and starting to really like it, but then the aimlessly slow exploration and awful map take me back out. --- Ain't no mystery god, peace to the true and living. I Self Lord And Master. ... Copied to Clipboard!

It can take awhile to get into for some people; whereas Fallout 3 (however inexplicably) makes a good first impression, New Vegas tends to build steam as it goes. Part of this is in the story, where the plot starts to open into a greater intrigue and more well-written characters start coming into play. Another part of it is the satisfaction of returning to areas that kicked your ass when you strayed from the suggested path and mopping the floor with them.
Another thing is that the DLC really put the shine on NV, and those are generally intended for higher levels. I'd recommend getting to a point where you've met Mr. House, Yes Man, Caesar, and have at least started Old World Blues (or Dead Money, if you want some challenge and heavy atmosphere). If it still ain't clicking at that point, I'd put the game behind you. --- Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I'm kind of with you, I never got the massive praise for New Vegas, I enjoyed FO3 and 4 a lot more. I also share your opinion but on Nier Automata. I tried so hard to like it but 90% of the 25 hours or so I played I was bored and kinda hated. I wound up finally bailing on that game.
