No Poll, just wanna read opinions. Since Obama left office, I haven't really kept up in politics. Its been dizzying. But since been a while since he's left office, how would you consider his performance.

The reason I am asking is I'm wondering how GameFAQs views him? Was he effective? Was he Bush lite?

Thanks for stopping by.

B- for getting Obamacare passed and having a good economy.

However, he didnt turn out to be a liberal in foreign affairs and generally disappointed me with how little he changed things.

Not as good as I would have hoped for. Obamacare was a step in the right direction, and it's great he was able to do something significant with that. The economy was pretty strong for him eventually after getting out of what he was given in the first place. Same sex marriage also progressed a lot under him, although he wasn't in favor of it "at first".

But he had some major downsides I didn't expect of him when he was elected such as deportation, drone strikes, etc.

There was a lot he could have done better with.

ran a largely competent administration that largely helped restore the trains running after the semi chaos of the W Bush tenure (especially compared to the whorehouse the current occupant is running)
I think the ACA fight and Libya somewhat tempered him to avoid big changes again and he governed cautious as a result (with the exception of Cuba and Iran on foreign policy as two big standouts) Obama isn't overtly agressive persona so this probably mostly suited him.

Thanks for answering. Some of your answers were quite thoughtful. Others, quite funny.

If he was running for the democratic party nomination and was somehow eligible to run for President again, would you vote for him?

He's too moderate/center for me to want him to represent the Democrats. I'm fairly liberal though so I'd say that for most politicians.

He was top tier as far as being a representative on the international stage goes. Easily head and shoulders above Clinton, W Bush and Trump (the only other presidents I was old enough to remember).

He had good policy interests and priorities, but not many actually made the desired impact. The ACA is probably his most notable change.

I'd put him at the top of the list of the last 4 presidents, but more because of the person he is rather than specific achievements in office.

This is one of the only times youll hear me say this but here we go.

I prefer the Philippines system (probably others but Im not educated enough on foreign governments).

That is, I prefer one term lasting 6 years. The current two term system means that the President needs to think about reelection throughout his/her entire first term which means:
1) At best, two years of said term is spent campaigning. At worst, like our current president, they spend the entirety of their first term holding rallies.
2) Most politicians are too afraid to pass major legislation or to rock the boat during their first term.
3) It gives them extra incentive to be a slave to party lines.

Anyway, B. He didnt change things as much as we were hoping, but he did take some steps in the right direction, didnt make any major gaffes and acted like a President (amazing how thats an achievement now).

C-, obama put people seeking to live in america in camps, did nothing about afghanistan or iraq (though he also didn't start them), drone strikes, then he failed medical reform. i'm sure there's more to say too. almost got a D mark but it's tough to argue he's D level bad. there have been Fs such as roosevelt, truman, and johnson.

carter dealt with some **** during his administration but in response to the pressures of he malaise/stagflation era he began the liberalization of the economy which reagan would continue and take all the credit for

conversely, obama just rode on a mountain of money the fed printed in response to the financial crisis and ensuing recession

carter also took on the intelligence establishment and its excesses (which obama did not seem to do); to go on a tangent, conspiracy theorists since have suggested that his loss in '80 was effectively a retaliatory coup masterminded by bush (also related to theories about the reagan assassination attempt, but that's really getting off topic)
