Karensdagen is the first day you call in sick and your employer dont have to pay you anything that first day. The State will now pay for your first day being sick so people will stay Home and not potentially spread COVID-19.

You get 80% of your salary for up to 2 weeks after that if Youre still sick but your employer can demand a doctors note after 1 week. After two weeks of sickness you need to apply for sick pay from the authorities. This is the standard procedure in Sweden.

The opposition parties support this decision.

Just under 500 confirmed cases so far. Mainly in Stockholm but there are cases popping up in most Regions now.

The cases are still mostly related to people who have been in Italy on vacation during the past couple weeks but internal spreading is starting to be a thing it seems.

It sounds pretty reasonable to me. As long as you're sick you'll still get paid, at least to some degree. <_<

We dont have sick days like in America where you have limited amount.

If you don't work through your disease like a true troglodyte, you deserve poverty and disdain.

It seems pretty weird that only the first day of a 2 week illness results in no pay, the other 13 still do get pay. Although most, if not all people will obviously not work all 14 days of a 2 week period.

For extended medical issues, paid leave of absences are a thing...It just doesn't fall under sick time because it's paid out differently.

Few people have such low salary here that they will end up not being able to pay their bills due to becoming sick. If that does happen to someone There are other social programs to help.

There is of course a risk hence the new temporary law change to show the Gravity of this particular situation. There is not a majority in Riksdagen for a permanent change. Im actually surprised to see the Conservatives back this temporary exception period.

One thing it lists is taking a lot of time and energy are all the questions from the media and the public. So people are busy answering questions rather than focusing on treatment. That needs to change.

Part of the problem is that people call 1177 rather than the special COVID-19 info number 113 13. 1177 refer to 113 13 as well for info if you dont call to report that you might be sick.
