Yeah I went in today and half the shelves were empty. I still managed to get about two weeks worth of supplies, but it was price gauged and last pickings.

Can confirm. Work at a grocery store.
Limiting everyone 4 per person.

Our Toilet paper, sanitizer, antibacterial soaps, kids meds, dry foods like beans and rice all wiped. Frozen foods has been the next hitter ..all the frozen veggies. Luckily our company makes most of these items in state. But we are running out.

Things are actually fairly normal around here, besides people washing their hands and sanitizing more. Grocery stores seem to have a normal amount of stock on shelves (may not have as much product in their back rooms though). A big box store ran out of toilet paper and hand sanitizer is pretty scarce all around (which is funny considering the virus is unaffected by alcohol), but otherwise fine.

We're out of meat, bread, toilet paper, sanitizer, most canned goods.

The Whole Foods I work at has been out of hand sanitizer for weeks now. I last worked Tuesday night, and it was busy as hell. Like it was Sunday. Crazy stuff.
We were already having supply issues with 365 brand dried beans, lentils, etc.
Luckily, next week is spring break, and I scheduled some time off next week because school+work has been kicking my ass, so now I feel lucky as a dog. I only have to work this Sunday, and then I'm off for 5 days.

As for my supplies, I went to the local Asian Market. Their shelves are full of noodles and rice and canned goods.

I'm usually a cashier but they sent me to collect carts from the parking lot today. 7.5 hours collecting carts and there was never more than like 10 carts in the corral at the front of the store every time I brought more up. 8 goes in, 16 goes out. I was scheduled to work only until 11 pm, they wanted me to stay until midnight but I legit couldn't breathe and couldn't feel my legs. Didn't feel like it died down until 10 pm ish, but even at 11 pm it was insane.

Lines inside were never before seen insane, we have 13 registers and 9 self-checkouts, every register was open and lines went past aisles. I worked on Tuesday but it was definitely not as bad as today. Returns were nowhere near done at 11 pm, there were still carts upon carts of returns. Idk how most of the aisles looked.

My town has confirmed community spread, so I understand the panic, but holy shit.

I went to a Total Wine in NY earlier and it was a complete fucking madhouse. I was paranoid as fuck. People were buying carts full of liquor.

The entire lot was packed. It's right next to a Walmart. Can't imagine how bad it was in there since there's no Walmarts in NYC, so everybody comes here.

Yeah every store here is basically wiped out of like... Everything that can sit in a pantry or fridge.

Wait what
I was a little misinformed (not much though). The nature of the virus as a fat-enclosed body means that soap and warm water are far more effective than anything else at breaking it up. Reasonably high alcohol-content sanitizer is probably fine, but with the downside that it coats your hands if you use it too often.

I went yesterday and stocked up. It was so wild. I got there around 11:30 in the morning and luckily parking seemed ok. Its a Gelsons thats tucked away and not popular. But I saw people coming out of there pushing 2-3 carts worth of shit. I was in and out in an hour and managed to stock up on things but shelves were starting to get empty. There was hardly any meat and chicken was completely out.

I beat the lunch rush at least. As I was leaving there was a line up of 20 cars trying to get in and circling around for parking. Today seems even worse. My friend waited in line at Target for an hour.

We are good for about 2 months and also have a supply of MREs and dry camping food for emergencies. Thats like another month or so. Both my husband and I plan to wfh and ride this shit out.
