The odd numbered seasons of Korra (1 & 3) are great. Season 2 isn't as good because Korra was meant to be a one-off. But near the second half it gets better. (I love the episodes with Avatar Wan) The villains for season 1 and 3 are God-Tier in Avatar (in terms of characterization). And they slashed season 4's budget so I give them a pass for the lackluster season 4.

And here's the most epic reveal of all... Amon is tarrlock's brother!

What the hell man. So I'm to believe that this yakone dude was able to escape custody, with no bending (something not even the fire Lord could do) and change his face, then this evil man got a woman to fall in love with him, had children, and was normal until he discovered his kids were benders? And somehow never revealed to his wife what an evil man he was? Or one of those cases of the wife knows but pretends not to/ignores it.

Even if I accept that, it's hard to believe that he was able to get away from under the nose of both Toph and the Avatar?

The circumstances are too unbelievable but it's close to the end of the season so I'll see how they resolve this.

aang and toph are just 2 people they cant be every where at once even with all our modern day technology people can still escape the law

I always liked believing that Amon was just a normal dude who trained so hard to counter bending and elevated chi fighting to a point he could counter bending through sheer will. Then he discovered spirit bending, something everyone could learn even if they had nothing as a way to fight back against abusers of elemental bending. But sadly no.

I loved Amon as a villain wondering what he was, but then they just made him be an even more OP blood bender that can do it mentally without the freaking moon lol. I would have happily accepted him being a spirit bender and would've fit his original message, but I also understand there's a reason he was made up to be a fake as well.

RIP fan theories when blood bending was the cause all along.
