I've had untreated chronic sinusitis for at least 8 years (untreated because none of the doctors I saw could be bothered to do anything about it, despite having all the scans and evidence)

In the last year I've finally got somewhere with it, tried some treatment and that hasn't worked and been told today that the next step is surgery.

I've agreed to it, just waiting around bored at the hospital for some pre-op assessments.

So apparently from surgery I could go blind, get double vision, bleed into my brain, get a big hole in my nose or have the shape of my nose changed. Scary stuff.

My wife had it and would not recommend it. Not because anything super horrible happened, but because it still was several days of bleeding and pain, and she does not think it helped at all.

My friend had surgery on his deviated septum and it fixed his issues.

That's a worry and really sucks for her.

I've got that, got to have surgery to fix my septum, remove polyps and clear up some other sinus issues.

It sounds like you might have more issues than my wife had, so it might end up being beneficial for you. Im sure it all comes down to a case by case basis, so just do plenty of research and feel comfortable with the decision to move forward with it if you do.

The heavy bleeding lasted maybe a day or two, so those days were not fun at all. Not trying to scare you, but its definitely something to be prepared for. The meds will help a bit, but the sinuses need time to heal for sure.

She still uses a Netipot on a daily basis, which is the one thing she says helps, but she was doing that prior to the surgery.
