I am surprisingly excited for this

SD3 legit IS one of my fav games...sorta. I legit love it but there were certain things that pissed me off. It keeps me from replaying it

while I know this won't be the same game (everybody is doing combos and shit, when in the original only Hawk and Kevin could attack multiple times)

I'm feeling tingly from seeing them in 3d

I liked it, but I think I think it failed to live up to the hype that everyone talked about. Granted I thought Secret of Mana was just okay and not some revolutionary game either.

I'm all for taking that story though and putting it into a better playing game.

SD3 was at one point one of my top ten games of all time. Probably not that high anymore, but I am very excited for this.

Starting to sound like this might not be a guarantee, lol.

the cutscenes definitely have issues where when a character first shows up they have lower texture models for a split second until the better textures load in.

my biggest question is if the black rabite is still duran/angela only.
because then i gotta decide what the first playthrough should be, Hawk/Riesz or Duran/Angela.

so you have 2 attack buttons (weak and heavy) as well as a jump and a dodge

You can do different attack combos by hitting weak so many times before hitting heavy

like weak then heavy does a combo that also deflects enemy attacks while weak weak heavy ends with an AoE swing

also exploration of towns and the world reminds me more of DQ than anything else

My computer just barely runs it, but it runs it so that is good! Charlotte with the expected terrible voice, no surprise, and I'm getting a big DQXI feel from everything which I love.

How does the combat compare to something like Ni No Kuni 2? It sounds very similar on paper but the combat in that game got old pretty quickly. I'm not against button mashing but it needs to feel satisfying if that makes sense?

To me it feels like a cross between Tales and Shining Resonance Refrain. O does your normal attacks with Triangle doing your more powerful move. L1 is your shortcut for special moves.

I am not....liking this at all.

I have a feeling I would be way more interested in just playing the original.

My only quibble, and it's a dumb nitpick that I'm also kind of glad is removed, is the lack of random chests.

I feel like I already started to build my character all wrong because back in the day, I'd pump my luck hard into Hawkeye so he could be designated chest opener and best avoid the bad luck wheel spots. There doesn't seem to be a reason to pump up my Luck in this one yet since it just adds to item drop chances. I don't really care about the items, and I don't need Luck to grind them out if there aren't any reaper/moogle/poison traps to avoid.

I am curious about the later stats though. It's cool that each character gets their own trees for each stat where, for example, Hawk got a badge at 4 Luck for +5% Item Drop that can be equipped to anyone while Kevin has something at 4 Str that can be shared. And if it stops at 6, that's probably how far it goes before Class... Change...

Oh Mana Goddess... The class changes will open up branches for each STAT. I'm gonna do so much replaying!

Also, my days are all screwed up because I didn't even realize today's the 26th not the 24th
