Better understanding and reasoning would be understanding that calling something the "wuhan virus" isn't making people more racist against the Chinese, but you've already established that even without evidence you choose to believe that is the case and have no desire to believe otherwise, so there's really nowhere to go from here.

Well we do have more reported cases of specific hate crimes against Asians lately. Is that due to an increased in reporting? Maybe. But I'd love to come back to this later when we have more information and I'll guarantee you're wrong here.

You're in that particular camp and nothing is going to change your mind. I'm in the camp that believes that some variation of "Wuhan virus" was used by every major news outlet and it wasn't racist then, and it's only been like a month.

If you can't interpret context, then that's on you. People in this topic have already addressed how the use of Wuhan virus has changed over time.

There's no racist out there who thought "well gee, I can't be racist towards these chinese people" but then suddenly changed their mind because the virus that originated from Wuhan had "Wuhan" in the name.

I already addressed this. I guess you just ignored it.

If your thesis here is that "if we bury all references to the origin of this virus people won't know who to be racist towards" then I'm afraid you're not nearly as enlightened as you're acting.

If that's how you interpret what I say, then that's the third thing you need to improve just from reading this response.

Hey when this has settled down, I think it's absolutely important the world addresses China over this. I am in no way advocating that we forget the origin of this virus - just the focus now should less be about who caused this virus and more about how we can contain its spread.
