Confusing news conference in Portland Oregon. Governor Brown and Mayor wheeler called for a stay at home/stay stay healthy order with more details to follow on Monday. Said we could go and do things like hiking, exercising, etc.

I won't go imto anymore details but the mayor and governor didn't seem to be on the same page. Everyone is confused, LOL!

seems like business as usual right now. maintain social distance when going outside etc.
that's what i been doing anyway while not doing unnecessary trips (can't even go to taco bell until they lift the dine in option) since lobby is closed for togo.

For every confirmed case, there's likely at least 5x more people who have the disease and don't show much symptoms or haven't gotten tested

Between this and the Italian mayor meltdown, I'm begining to see the reason behind UK's push for herd immunity.

Now Sweden is also reporting that more rhan half of ICU patients are under 65. 29 ICU patients been ubder 65 where 9 of them been 20-50. 26 ICU patients been over 65 where 6 has been over 80.

All 16 deaths tho on Sweden has been 80+ with multiple diseases.

If the hospitalization is

1-19 3%
20-44 6%
45-54 10%
54-64 15%
65-84 25%
85% 50%

This gives you raw hospitalizations of

1-19 30 cases
20-44 37,500 cases
45-54 19,900 cases
55-64 15,000
65-84 12,500
85+ 12,500

Now you breakdown the % of age groups hospitalized of total

Total hospitalizations

97,430 hospitalizations

1-19 3/total = negligible
20-44 37500/total = 38.85%
45-54 19,900/total = 20.42%
55-64 15,000/total = 15.4%
65-84 12500/total = 12.83%
85+ 12500/total = 12.83%

You have to take the population of the age brackets into account.

Saying nearly 40% of hospitalizations are 20-44 is clickbait titles. Sure. It can be true. But, it isn't explaining why that is and is preying on fear to get that click.

40% of hospitalizations are 20-44 but only 6% of them get hospitalized. They just have more numbers to draw from.

Yes. Law was mandated for the aids crisis once that started being taken seriously decades ago. Still limited to life threatening cases only however.

I wasn't posting any stats on overall population, just the facts of patients in Sweden, and how other countries present themselves, not saying either that the ppl younger than 65 are the ones dying. But it's clear that they can get very sick. People seem think it only affects the elderly badly.
