i know some options may interchange (e.g. job and money) but i guess go with whatever is the primary cause of your concern

My partner's health, they have asthma and a weak immune system so anything like this hitting them could be pretty bad. They currently have a cough but no other symptoms so hopefully it's just a coincidence and not the virus.

I'm also a little concerned at the thought of the beer and liquor stores being shut down.

Really just the economy in general. A downturn of a few weeks and then immediately rebounding is one thing. Which I personally think is still what's gonna happen - the media just loves a hype machine that elongates the concern. But a downturn until maybe autumn, like how some projections are showing? Yeah, I'd get screwed eventually. I do think it's funny though how some people are confident in their positions - good luck, even good jobs at good companies will be up for grabs if this goes on longer than another month or two.

And how in the meantime working from home sucks ass - at least for me, it is absolutely not ideal. Probably my greatest strength at my workplace was my ability to differentiate a work from a home life. Now that I'm working out of my place, it's freaking miserable.

Oh and now I am worried about my mom and her meds. I called to see if her script for oxycodone was ready, and they told me they couldn't get the full amount because there is a shortage. That could be pretty nerve wracking if it continues.

Catching the virus is my biggest concern. I'm 34 but I also have asthma so I would be at higher risk. My parents are also in their 70s and have only recently begun to take this pandemic as seriously as they need to.

I actually stand to gain from this situation. I'm able to work remotely, my company gave us a temporary raise + additional but conditional PTO, and there's that stimulus check on top of it all. I also worked overtime on top of all everything this week, and overtime is possible for the next few weeks if our building is immediately closed before front line employees are equipped to work from home.

There's the possibility of hours being cut though, if business just stops flowing. There's only so many documents I can update and etc as well and I could get to a point where I just don't have 40 hours of work to do throughout the week if this persists a couple of months.

i'm pretty much at the mercy of it.

my "landlord", or the really elderly woman whose house i'm renting the ground floor of, is 89 years old.

if she becomes too ill then their family has to sell the house which leaves me forced to find someplace else.
my rent is $360~ with free water/heat and in turn i have to mow the lawn etc. since she's obv too old to do basic house tasks.

if i'm forced to move my monthly expenses would easily be at least triple that.

sounds like a win-win. both get something useful out of it.
definitely have to protect the elderly from the virus.

I've had one day off since this shit started, and really can't foresee when I'm going to get another. My shitty company, CVS, is doing fucking nothing to help us. The only peep we've gotten out of them is "overtime is approved" and demanded we put fucking folding tables in front of the registers and duct tape on the floors for "distancing". Our worthless incompetent piece of human dogshit district leader came in once, told us that we'd be slowing down, then left and has refused to respond to anybody.

I really don't want to quit and fuck over the people I work with, because I really like them and I like my job. But this bullshit is fucking unsustainable and the company is doing nothing to help us.

in my school district this isn't a problem at least through this week.
they have to pickup breakfast/lunch food at the school parking lot for the day at a certain time. they'll be switching to dropping off food at student's houses at the end of march.

This one in terms of immediate impact. I'm effectively furloughed until April 15 (tentative date)

In terms of global economic impact, I'm more concerned about future outbreaks. If we're handling the one like this, I don't know how we'll be able to take another (and there will be more deadly outbreaks in the future)

None of these is my biggest worry. I have a strong immune system, I have a job/food/money, etc.

I'm more worried that I'll contract it, not show symptoms, and spread it to patients at my work. I work at a women and children's hospital that also houses adult bone marrow transplant patients. There are lots of severely immunocompromised patients at my work -- and I'd feel like an ass if I gave it to them.

  1. Many of my closest, long-time friends live in California and work in the film and service industry and hence have no incomes right now. The two that can work from home and are financially secure are still stuck sheltering-in-place.
  2. After a roller-coaster of emotions following two of my close friends getting married last year to wonderful women (Ive never felt so happy in my life or felt so anxious), Ive resolved to better myself by being more outgoing, being a better friend, and building a career where I planned to do some intensive job hunting once Ive finished some additional classes in late Spring...this virus fucks up both of them.
Ive tried to see my friends more and was having huge successes at that but now I feel guilty at having seen them last Sunday due to the virus and some of my other friends were shaming me for it.

At least my financial situation is fine and my savings are strong. My work is giving me at least the next week off and paying me 4 out of every 5 hours of it so that lessens my fear of getting sick and still making money.
