I've always held the belief that the amount of societal pressure that we mount against this thing, how it is universally reviled, and yet people still find ways to achieve it, means that it's not something that can be simply talked away in behavioral therapy. It's their thing. Child abuse is already seriously under-reported and it could make it even more so if victims knew they were potentially sending a family member to their death. It could also potentially compel molesters to kill a victim for fear of getting caught and killed themselves. I was molested by my father and witnessed him also molest my younger sister. I had a difficult enough time testifying against him in court (to the point that I just froze and didn't say anything at all) and I don't want to think about how much worse the turmoil I've experienced because all of that could've been had his life been on the line. For as much as he destroyed my life and my family's, I don't know that him being executed for it would've been worth it. He also stalked my family and tried to kidnap me, so I think that second point might have some ground, at least for my case.
