She's 17 years old and lived a really good life. But this is the first time I've ever dealt with losing someone close to me

Just remember everything you did for her. You gave her many years of a great and happy life, you gave her everything she could have ever wanted. It will hurt, but just remember that. If you have to put her down, stay with her and give her loving until she is gone. That will be tough for you, but for her she won't have any idea that something is amiss as she gently falls asleep.

Oh no, first Jim lost her kitty Winston and now a doggy is likely going to pass away too :((
I've lost quite a few animals that I've found and tried to nurse back to health, and after a certain point I almost felt like leaving them so I wouldn't have to see them die. But one of my co-workers encouraged me that at least I'm giving them a warm and safe home before they pass. Seeing as how your dog is 17, you should be glad knowing that you were able to care for your dog for so long. Hopefully she can go peacefully in her sleep, happy that she had a full life :)) --- Bun bun :3 ... Copied to Clipboard!
