Well, based on Slaughterhouse-Five, I don't see much else to do in that scenario other than fuck...
Oh? What happens in that? I don't read books.

Nah I'm just in it for the hump. Maybe an alien garbage can
I mean, if you really want to. They'd probably find it interesting and include it in their research notes.

So we're being raped.
Well, kinda. They'd probably have technology to influence your decision to be more open about it. It's not like it's too much different from captive breeding programs in zoos on this planet, right?

I mean I thought it would be funny in a meta sort of way.
As long as you're enjoying it, man.

Shit in my hands and sling it at the.windows, and any guards/staff that came in the enclosure.
That seems to be another popular activity.

Act civilized, make friends with the other humans if possible. Hopefully some speak my language.
Sure! A sense of community can really help through a troubling situation like this one so that's a good idea!

Star Control is the game series that inspired Mass Effect (you've heard of that... right?). :)
I know what Mass Effect is, fortunately. I don't know anything about it, though.

Your enclosure is kept at 78 degrees Fahrenheit so you won't be uncomfortable.
Nope, still freezing. If it's not at least 85 degrees, I'll be cold without clothing.

This reminds me of some book that I cant remember the name of that I read ages ago...
A young underage girl, I think she was around 8-13, was on a picnic (?) when she was hiding in a bush or something (playing with her father? Cant remember). She lost her consciousness and woke up in a cage.
She is greeted by an alien that explains that he is a collector of rare species and that he got a private zoo with them, and the little girl is his latest exhibit. He had paid a high price for her to some bounty hunter and he was so happy, he only knew one other person that had a human in their collection.
I think she had some kind of shock collar around her neck that he had no problems with using.
She was turned into his slave and had to... I think it was moving around stuff, cleaning, take notes during his experiments, that kind of stuff.
One day that other collector that had a human visited and he had his human with him, I think it was a boy around late teen or early twenties. They saw that the humans had no problems being in the same room and started to talk about breeding them with each others.
I dont remember so much more, except for the ending... some intergalactic police corp raided the planet and told the girl that she was safe, they would take her home to her planet.

Then I guess you'll have to huddle together with your herd to keep warm or wear a blanket around like a cloak.

Prove humanity's true sapience by capturing a local rodent equivalent and keeping it in a cage as a pet.

That'll either get the humans out, or either prove that these aliens are malevolent dicks, in which case making as much trouble for them as possible with escape attempts or open hostility seems good enough. If they kill me then so be it.

Wouldn't this be like Koko's cat Allball? She kept him pretty good, wept for him when he got hit by a car, and didn't take a replacement because of her attachment to him. Despite that, her keepers didn't release her or think they made a mistake by keeping her in the first place. If anything you'll just make a huge leap in their research that they never even considered. But if you want to be rebellious, there's no harm in that, either. Whatever you wanna do, really.

For both series.
To be precise:
- Paul Reiche III (Star Control) worked *with* Starflight's creators on their games--S1 (1986) and S2 (1989)
- Greg Johnson (Starflight) worked *with* Star Control's creators on their games--SC1 (1990) and SC2 (1992)

So, Reiche inspired... himself? No, check each original release's credits (I've played/beaten all of them); [Fred] Ford and Reiche made SC their own thing with help from Johnson.

[ Starflight and Star Control are different types of games. Both Starflight games are RPG/simulation, Star Control 1 is strategy/action, and Star Control 2 is action/adventure. ]

The point isn't keeping a pet. I realize my usage of the word was erroneous. I'm not doing that to get a pet. I'm doing that to get a prisoner.

The point is trapping a wild animal, then expending resources to tame it. To keep it locked up in a cage. To impose my will and mastery upon it as a superior being. To do something no none-sapient would have a rational reason of doing.

Your example did nothing of the sort, that pet was more a friend than a prisoner. It's different.

I don't think it would have been in Koko's best interest to be released back into the wild since she was raised in captivity. She totally lacked any natural instincts. Besides, she seemed pretty happy with her life.

Geez dude, the way you describe it sounds scary... I guess you could try. Though it would be difficult to care for and train an alien creature, even if it is just some kind of small vermin. You have no idea if it's poisonous or how intelligent it is or even what kind of sustenance it needs to survive. But by all means, you have the time so why not try? Good luck to ya!
