Anarcho Syndicalism, Anarcho Communism, Mutualism, Egoism, Post-Leftism, Primitivism, hell I'll even allow a discussion on Anarcho-Capitalism.

I am about to get my Masters (MS) in Political Science and I consider myself to be apart of the Political Theory department of Political Science and I always had an interest in studying anti-authoritarian political theories. Have any of you looked into anarchist thought at all? Do you have any opinions? I'm bored and waiting for my door dash to come so I want to see what CE thinks of anarchy!

i like it more when i read about it, i like it less when i meet self-proclaimed anarchists

Yeah same. I did a lot of activist work in my late teens and early 20s and a lot of "anarchists" I met irl were kinda annoying and not really productive. Some were chill dudes though >.>

oh yeah, chill af. then inexplicably quick to anger. yikes.

idk i just wanna live alone on a plot of land somewhere, but i like the internet and grocery stores so

The problem I had with anarchists is they acted like a gang sometimes. Like I am really left wing and a huge Chomsky and Zinn fan but a lot of them hated me basically because I like to wear nice looking clothes. I don't even mean like a $600 pair of jeans, but my usual attire is like a decent dress shit, pair of jeans, and dress shoes with a watch. Usually I get all of these things from stores like TJ Maxx and Kholes but I was told I was wearing "the clothes of the enemy" or some bullshit like that and I was like "lol okay!"

I do like radical thinkers like Chomsky but Chomsky also dresses really conservative, so maybe I'm just too cool for those people lole.

I don't get anarchism. Like there's obviously going to be a power vacuum that will inevitibly be filled by someone

Not much. Im more of a historian than a political scientist( I DO have a history degree, so I have some minimal claim to the title).
My own sentiment is that some form of central authority is an unavoidable reality of human governance, but, then, the idea that kings werent necessary for government would have seemed quite foreign to the vast majority of medieval Europeans, so perhaps were simply too far from such a reality to grasp it.

Since you have a degree, can you explain the thinking behind anarchism that it DOESN'T end in chaos and death at every turn? I don't know much about it

They are basically modern day insurrectionary anarchists. They think the left failed because labor unions stagnate in the long run so we need temporary autonomous affinity groups to carry out insurrection against industrial civilization. The hate capitalism btw.

This is totally a witty clever take that no anarchist has ever considered.

this.

actual anarchy would be a cluster fuck of biblical proportions that would eventually just result in "Group A" taking over "Group B" and ta da, a new king is born.

we're not a species that is at the point where we can accept government free populations and have it not turn into pure chaos. Even if you think today is bad, it'd be 10000x worse with no ruling government to keep the semblance of peace. The idea, that groups won't just band together to conquer each other is ridiculous.

I'm more sympathetic to anarchism than any other political philosophy, but I can't consider myself an anarchist because I'm not going to read any fucking books about it right now and it's not fair to anybody if I'm not going to do my reading. Until I do, I'm happy being just a generic anti-capitalist and anti-authoritarian.

I mean, it's pretty simple. The world we live in is already the world in which the warlords have taken over and established unjust hierarchies. The point of anarchism is to resist and overthrow them. If they move in to try and fill the power and established more tyranny, the people just have to kill them.
