A Dallas-Fort Worth taqueria has announced a lifetime ban for any customers making rude or racial comments as tensions grow over the coronavirus pandemic.

Richardson-based OMG Tacos, a Southern California-style fusion taqueria, posted a warning on social media last week after two different customers asked a Latino and an Asian-American employee whether they had the coronavirus.
One customer at the Richardson location said he was asking because you work for Asian people.

This is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE, OMG Tacos posted in part on social media.

We will not tolerate racism, ignorance or hate. If you are racist, ignorant, aggressive, or threatening toward our staff in any way, we will absolutely refuse to serve you. You will also be BANNED from our establishments FOR LIFE.

Good for them. I hope other businesses follow this trend.

In Iran the official government response was to blame the coronavirus on Zionists. In that case you can, at least partially, blame anti-semitic actions by people on the government. So are Asian-American hate crimes always happening like this? Or did they just coincidentally ramp up when certain people in the government started making a deliberate choice to refer to a highly contagious, deadly pandemic as "The Chinese Virus"?

Obviously people are making choices, but others can foster an environment that allows these choices to be made more readily. If a workplace becomes a hotbed for sexual harrassment, is it only somewhat the employer's fault if they actively do the harassing themselves?

This isn't even the first time the American government has irresponsibility fostered a toxic environment for Asian Americans amidst a tragedy.

They are happening because the worst pandemic in 100 years originated in China and racists, some idiots and some just hateful, took that to mean Asian people are dangerous and should be insulted or physically attacked. When did I ever say that calling it the Chinese virus is ok? I didn't because it's actively calling it something other than the actual name to agitate people. But that isn't the reason people are attacking Asians. To say it is gives them an excuse. They are the ones fully in the wrong and fully to blame. Again, this is happening in several countries around the world; in east Asian countries Chinese people specifically are being discriminated against.
