Retrospectively, Ni no Kuni > Sekiro. I didn't know what Sekiro was and I remembered Ni no Kuni having a decent following when it was new. I'd say that all of my other wrong picks had reasonable justifications for picking them.

Games like Hollow Knight Beseria were very unpredictable.

My worst pick so far was Bloodstained beating Borderlands in terms of %. All my other incorrect matches were very close. DBZ/Rocket League, Undertale/Octo and Xenoblade/Batman

Just 'dumb', taking Bloodstained > Borderlands but NOT taking Bastion > Walking Dead.

But I suspect now its pretty strong. 12 has gained massive with the remasters on everything.

Thats simply not true and I've been to many of the ZA /FF boards on and outside of Gfaqs.

A ton of people who never played XII or only played XII briefly has played and loved ZA even those who didn't like the original. It also released on PC, Xbox and Switch.

And 12 beat Bloodborne 5 years ago. Its definitely not weaker. Sometimes i wonder if Board 8 is the only board you visit.

FFXV and 13 being so mixed has helped games like 12. To call it weak is utterly ridiculous considering it would beat 80% of games in this bracket.

I played the original 12 and youd have to pay me a considerable amount of money to even touch Zodiac Age. Most people who disliked it more than likely didnt feel like giving it a second chance especially because it came out after faith in Square was already pretty low

Well tbf that was before Zodiac Age. So Vanilla FF12.

WE won't know until another BGE contest but I think FF12 is considerably stronger now. Theres no reason for it not to be.

But they did and a ton of people changed their mins and or like it even more

ZA is a very very well received game and sold well too. Not only that its available to more people

FF12 came out very late PS2 gen and changed too much too quickly for the Nostalgic fanboys

12 is still one of the best games in the series. But not to people who prefer archaic game design i guess

For what I left in my bracket, Destiny > Stardew and Witness > Yakuza were terrible picks and among the most far off from correct I may have ever made. I saw the writing on the wall to some degree after I realized they were left like that though, so I don't feel TOO bad about them..

Starcraft 2 > Mass Effect 3 though, i was defending that one to the end. Bah.

For its time FF12 got rid of Random battles, Pre rendered backgrounds, introduced Gambits and had an evolved ATB system thats used in just about many modern FF games today.

You can argue all you want about contests but i will destroy you when it comes to talking about Game design. So don't even go there

The only thing holding FF12 back is the Story/Characters. Theyre pretty weak.

Yeah, FF has definitely gotten weaker here overall. Lots of lost faith in Square because they keep messing up stuff. I wouldnt even be surprised if 7R loses GotY here

The story in FF12 is meh at best. Theyre ok characters. I beat FF12's story in like 40 hours. ITs the other 100 Hours that make it the best FF game of all time. Easily the best post content of any FF game, the battle system makes the game less grindy, more strtegic and more fast paced than any FF game before it.

And the whole Gambit system is genius

No longer do i have to keep mashing X to go through menus and battles. I can just walk forward and that tedious grind in previous games is done for me.

No more random battles that take 9 years to finish like FFX.

Probably depends on what actually releases now that Corona is delaying everything. I mean 7R could still win just for being FF7 even if the new material is not being received so well. The Last of Us 2 might fair well if it actually comes out this year...

Because You can end a battle in XII in 2-4 Seconds

In that time i'm still watching the Breaking screen animation of a FFX random Encounter.

FFX is literally the SLOWEST game ever. Everything fucking takes ages

But the game has a better story narrative. I'll give it that. FFXII's story was non existent.

Also thats part of the desgin

ITs os that i'm not doing the same shit 50 times and taking hours..it takes minutes

in ZA i can play it at 4x Speed. ITs great. I can't play FFX at 4x speed.

I've actually played FF7R. And its pretty damn good. Better than the original

But i'm also in that camp of not giving two shits about the original anyway. I remember playing FF7 back then and then returning it for FF8. I enjoyed FF8 way more. But the Remake is great. I just wish i could find a physical copy. I can only play it when my brother isn't
