In 2018 it was predicted that a deadly flu-like pandemic would originate from Southeast Asia and spread around the globe. They even predicted the signature spiky shape of the virus itself.

Likely, but not willfully. The availability of testing limited the number of confirmed cases. The difference appears to be that US reporting has been hampered by supply issues for requisite testing materials, whereas the Chinese seem to be purposely not reporting cases and subsequent deaths, per the CIA.

Despite the inept leadership in the White House, states and the CDC appear to be attempting to ascertain the reality of the situation. And there are also plenty of deaths listed in the reported number that are attributed to COVID-19, merely because the virus was present. Regardless of the actual cause.

So the next time this happens, and it will, instead of trying to lock it down and stop it before it gets out, the same thing is going to happen-
Deny theres a problem, declare it a locational problem, close down a border while calling it someone elses problem, blaming the problem on someone else, while the reality is its a human problem.

This virus doesnt care where it came from, doesnt care about borders, race, social status, political leanings, religion, age, gender, financial worth...
Its a virus that looks for a host and invades.
The handling of this was a massive fail all around.
