So in the U.S. if youre Chinese you may get attacked by black people and in China if youre black you may lose your home, job, & get kicked out of the neighborhood.

Racism is its own virus that flourishes under a pandemic.
You'll get attacked by any ignorant person regardless in America. But yeah racism exists as long there are people... And just used as a scapegoat when something like this happens

You generalized "all" asians (chinese Japanese etc) as being xenophobic and racist towards blacks. Thats not true.

Who said you can only care about one thing at a time? Neither of your first two statements make sense. As to your last point, if you read up on a majority of hate crimes against asians in the US, most of it is verbal attacks, racist words, stares, some people have been spit on, and a small minority have been physically assaulted. And in the US most of the violent attacks have made the news and disgusted average people.

Blacks in China are being denied services in businesses, evicted from their homes, forced house arrest while ethnic Chinese walk freely, some forced to sleep on the streets, starving. Harassed by police. Now both sides have ignorant racism involved but it is obvious to an open mind who is worse and both deserve to be talked about.
I think he means in their respective countries, since they are very homogenic.

But to be fair, lots of people from every background are racist, everywhere. Especially if you are a minority in any given place. Could be personal experience trauma, media influence, age, lack of socialization with other groups, ignorance etc. I'm Asian and I've heard everything disparaging comments under the sun about other Asians, Hispanics, blacks from my own family, old and young. Things that disgust me to this day when I think about it. These are anedocotal, but they happen far more often and casually than you think in conversations.

I will say this, I think Africans and people with dark skin tones have it worst in most countries from job prospects, dating/marriage (convincing in laws, etc), run ins with the law.

But anyway, I think most people mean well here..nobody is denying racism doesn't exist.. but it's fruitless to keep arguing about who has it worse to 1up each other, based on how both opposing groups have been treated in their countries.

It's sad but the reality is black people are at the bottom of the social pole in every country and especially minority countries.

I'm not the least bit surprised by this it's terrible and cases like this exist throughout the world.

We have to unite and build for ourselves, or else this will always be our condition

is this supposed to be news? Chinese, Japanese, etc, all highly xenophobic and especially racist towards black people

i know this is a shocker to a lot of you but its possible to care about more than one thing at once, and the racism against the Chinese in America right now is a big issue
That's totally false. If they were what you said, there could've blocked entry visas.

Dude posts like he fell out of a tree and landed on his head, then talks about people having half a brain. Classic

Arcanine, I could make a topic like this 2 times a day for years and it still wouldnt be close to the amount of whiny America bashing shit I see on this board. Its the Current Events board, not Current Events in the USA. So this topic is relevant and im going to keep doing it in the future. No harm intended but theres room for both and plenty more.

An East Asian country racist against Africans?! Get outta here, this is hot news!

Seriously though, if this is news to you, welcome to literally the entire history of the East Asian countries on racism.

I guess China takes it a bit further, but I know for a fact Korea treats them like garbage unless they speak fluent Korean and is a jolly guy that's not too burly, then you're accepted. Japan acts all scared of these guys unless they're comedians that speak Japanese.

Basically they expect you to be fully integrateable into their society but not leave too much of a mark in it. It's disgusting but they're lived with it for eons and don't have some historical landmark to dissuade them from it like the US might. If you also think about it, it is in their right to pursue homogeneity

That's the right of every Nation State to pursue. Look at what it takes to become a citizen in all the Major Countries. Integration is required along with a certain level of language fluency. If a country wants homogeneity, that's their right to pursue.

Yeah if anything, US is a bit of an outlier. Other countries that have mixed racial heritage usually has some historical root to their mixture. US is a country that actively used to tout the whole melting pot idea, since the majority of the population at the moment are not indigenous, and historically their origins were essentially that of a religious haven, not racial haven.

Good post but you kinda missed my point. Its not about asian racism mainly, the topic is about the way blacks are being treated right now in China due to corona. And im contrasting that treatment against the way asians have been treated in the US. People have been shitty but asians arent being evicted for example. George W. was careful not to say inflammatory thinga about middle easterners as a whole, but that didnt stop them from being side eyes and treated unfairly after 9/11. My argument is kinda more pointing out that its often human nature more than something inherently broken in American character.

Like, if the virus were from Ireland, people with a steong brogue would be viewed with hostility by the same type of morons. This wasnt people who were patiently waiting to attack asians and saw their chance. Also if one were to press your last statement, you could make the case easily for Americans that want to keep the US mostly white with a tiny minority of blacks, since it was almost 95% white up until about the 1960s.

The original melting pot was still mostly white people from European countries first and foremost up until recently. Irish, Scots, Russians, Jews, British, Italians, and all the rest. They left their homelands behind to embrace American values and traditions because they wanted to be like us and pursue a better life. While at the same time inter marrying and 'breeding' and holding onto some of the personality of their countries of origin. It worked extremely well because they were grateful to be in a land of opportunity. Yet even then recent immigrants would often segregate into their own communities voluntarily because like seeks like. They were also often subject to hostility from some 'natives', such as the way Irish and italians were viewed and treated. Its been an issue since the beginning of time and goes deeper than skin color also.
