I swear to god most young people get ALL of their political socialization from either the internet or liberal arts college campuses. I'm not saying I'm super happy Biden beat Sanders (because I'm not) but you can't SERIOUSLY think Biden is going to lose to Trump. Trump has a comically low approval rating, he only technically beat Clinton, Biden is currently LEADING against Trump in the polls, and the Democrats mopped the floor with the GOP in the 2018 midterms. Biden has this fam, relax, you don't even need to vote.

It's likely. There's no way Biden is going to energize voters. All he has going is "someone who isn't Trump" who pretty much would do nothing to help anyone.

Not to mention, there's zero chance he is going to win in a debate against Trump. They are both geriatrics who have no idea what they are even thinking about, but Biden, unlike Trump, just stands there and forfeits opportunities to debate. He's absolutely the worst possible person to put up in a debate against Trump.

Trump edged out Hillary with voters in the rustbelt who had gone for Obama in the previous election. He didnt win the popular vote the last time and definitely wont win it against a more likeable candidate. Whatever edge he mightve had as the incumbent died with the economy, and his support effectively rests on a sizeable but insignificant minority of idiots who watch Fox News and think hes the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Basically, 2018 elections show how committed Democrats are. Theyre coming out in force, and I know quite a few Republicans who will be joining them.

Considering how stupid Trump looked in his debates with Hillary, Im not worried. It took an act of divine intervention to (barely just) give him the presidency with the FBI announcement. Not happening here.

Clinton beat Trump hands down in every debate. People don't care about that.

A lot can change between now and November and currently there's little reason to think that Biden is worse than even on his chance of winning.

The difference between Trump and Biden is Trump knows how to campaign.

There's a massive enthusiasm gap, and Trump is busy making sure his name is on the $12k checks. He sucks at governing but he knows how to play this game. Biden doesn't even know where he is half the time.

Trump is good at shouting his own name, which will actually work to his detriment when it motivates people to come out and vote against him.

My prediction: it's gonna be a blow out. Biden is going to win pretty massively, primarily because the biggest thing holding back Hillary isn't there for him (he's a he).

The lone holdout Trump voters will largly be middle-upper middle class white people who are "fighting a zero sum game against minorities".

Who really knows though?

Lol yeah, ok. It was always Liz and Bernie, and Biden floundering around at third. I remember calling Biden to win the nom because of that one win, then everyone called me an idiot for saying that. Here we are, though. So we'll see. The only way Trump loses if he royally fucks COVID management up, as in reopening everything too early, then there's a huge spike of cases. Right now, he's safe.

The difference here is, Trump energized a racist, hate-filled base. What has Joe energized? The for and against with Trump are all motivated by him. The carcass up against Trump doesn't matter. Joe will get the baseline of anti-Trump voters, but what does he bring that will get more people to choose him over Trump?

People were somewhat energized at the idea of having a female president. There's nothing to energize the base to vote for Joe.

If I go to the polls, I am not going to be like "YES, A vote to fix this shitty system!" ..... it's going to be "Yay, a vote to remove the tumor from the left side of the brain, while letting the right side's tumor stay."

I dunno about you, but the DNC just isn't giving me enough to be excited for. If anything, they just make me see more and more that democracy in the United States isn't real. That's it.

I think you're overestimating how much of Biden we'll see. He's going to run a 19th-century style "front porch" campaign except he'll make a few brief appearances now and again and get shot up full of drugs to be semi-alert for the convention and the debates(assuming they have debates).
His VP will probably be doing most of the campaigning. You might see a number of different Biden surrogates more than Biden himself. He'll launch a legion of substance-less, feel-good ads like fungal spores into the wind.
