Finally got around to playing Doom Eternal

Doom Slayer 7/week and I'm not budging from this, I just fought three demons equipped with a plasma cannon, a machinegun and a shitload of missile batteries on tank treads (two of them at once) and FUCKED THEM UPPPPP

I feel like I'm sonic and my enemies are mario goombas at this point, it's absolutely fuckin ludicrous

they even gave him bullet time cause why the fuck not, #YOLO, he's like every single gunslinger we have but at once and dialed up to 11

OK, so I'm spoilering this cause it's super endgame shit but I just HAVE to talk about it because I can't even believe what I just witnessed

So the final boss of Doom Eternal is the Icon of Sin. That's not a spoiler. What is a spoiler is that the Icon of Sin is covered top to bottom in demon steel, moves around, is the size of a fucking skyscraper, can do shit like attack you with a tracking laser that's three times your size and just as wide or call down meteors or just set the entire fucking arena on fire because why not, AND THE SLAYER KILLS IT. WITH NO GIMMICKS. HE KILLS IT SO HARD HE KILLS IT TWICE, first time by systematically wiping away all its armor plating with nothing but pure gun and then beating the fuck out of it so hard all that remains is loose flaps of skin and exposed bone, and then he finishes it off by plunging a soul cleaving laser sword into its fucking brain and walking away like a badass. Oh yeah, and the boss can just fucking punch you so hard it instantly rings you out of the arena and not only can you recover like it's fucking Smash Bros, you can just tank through it like it's not even there.

I was mostly kidding about him being a 7/week earlier but now I'm deadass serious. I just cannot see Samus or Master Chief or any of our other 6/weeks we take as benchmarks beating this final boss even if you gave them the (fully lore-justified) health refills by murdering shit the Doom Slayer gets. Absolutely insane how hard they went on hyping him, I think even Nero got less love in DMCV.

I feel the flaw with those is "requires everyone involved to have watched The Cube to know the scope of things". Compare to something like, say, basketball against Charles Barkley or boxing again Little Mac, it's a lot less immediately inviting.

... that said, for pure match changers/hypotheticals, a John Madden Pure Support is very tempting.
