that happened in 86 lmao. half of the milliennials werent even born the other half were toddlers. the big one for millennials was 911

That's my point. I would start the Melliennial, culturally, at 85 earliest. Not 80, is only the literal definition.
For there to be something called 'A Generation' there has to be some cultural influence. Boomers are Boomers, why?
Because the were born directly after WWII, not because of the date on the calendar.

I've heard it goes from 1980 to 2000

I was born in 81 *shrugs*
If you start baby boomers at 1945 and count every 18 years as a generation millennials don't start until 1983.

1945-63 Boomers
1964-1982 "Bursters" / Gen X
1983-2001 "Millennials" / Gen Y
2002-2020 "Zoomers" / Gen Z

so youre using the challenger disaster as a marking point? whats the logic behind that lol?

please explain

I am not, but it is an example.

If there is a lock step 20 year rule, then why name them.
Why not just say, the 1st Gen of the 21'st Century, 2 gen of the 21' century..ect..ect.
My younger brother was born in '81, his upbringing and world experience was much different than someone who is 28 today.

The idea of a generation entails more than just years. ~Or at least it should, otherwise it's just arbitrary, and goes back to my point, first, second, third-gen of whatever millennia.

The term Millenial was first set out as some cutesy shit because by boomers because ZOMG they will be the last to graduate in the 1900's, or the first not to or whatever it was. I remember it being talked about back then.

What we think of as Millenials today has nothing to do with people born in the early '80s.

im convinced you dont know what youre talking about.

Really why?

The studies that say a Millenial was born in 1980?

I know what I am talking about, but if you want, tell me what you have to say.
This happens every time this comes up here...so if you want, go for it.
