This reminded me of something my friend told me a few years ago.

A lady in a state next to us owns servals. Apparently it's not super common, but a few people there do.

But like she doesn't know how to handle them at all, full stop. Has gotten so many abscesses from injuries and because of that some have had to be put down. But she still keeps keeping servals.

Like I love cats, and servals are cute (not saying I want to have them like realistically or have plans tonor w/e) but JFC that's... Kinda selfish isn't it. Lady clearly you're not suited to have them, and some have died because of that....

yeah ive heard a lot of similar stories. Its sad. People just should not own exotic animals. At all.

I would love to pet both a platypus and a narwhal in real life. Both kind of creatures are very unusual and seem like What was the guy who made these things thinking?!

The average person nope, agreed.

If someone went through the training, and bought an appropriate area and put in appropriate resources to make a sanctuary... At that point they earned them.

However, that's basically someone creating a new sanctuary at that point anyway.

99.99% of people aren't going to do that. At least 90% of people aren't even putting in the effort of doing extensive research.

It makes me sad. It's okay to imagine, but don't put these poor animals in these conditions/situations just for your own desires please?
