Test is provided below for people who do not know.

Test: https://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test

Extrovert: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/3-poll-of-the-day/78616038

Edit: I realize there's no apostrophe in Myers. I was being dumb. Or maybe autocorrect idk. Same with "interesting."

Myers-Briggs is a legalized excuse for employers to discriminate against introverts in hiring/promotion preference, for the high crime of preferring to read a book alone than attend a party.

Any time a job has asked me to take the test as some sort of "exercise" to "learn" about myself, I fudge* my responses so I'll show up as at least mildly extroverted. I don't need a test to know I'm an introvert, I hate that this test exists, and no I will no be taking it for "fun".

* It's a self-survey on how you view yourself, so it's technically impossible to "lie", and fuck anyone who actually would get upset at someone for lying about their personality traits that they didn't choose to have, in order to protect himself.

I usually come up INTJ. Which I always find amusing because in versions of the test that assign archetypes to the results call that one "Mastermind".

Myers-Briggs is also basically pseudoscience that's about one step up from old Livejournal quizzes.

The only research it's actually based on was invalidated as obsolete decades ago. It's more New Age philosophy than it is psychology.

Because 3% of the population =/= 3% of the people taking the test on the Internet. Or admitting to their results in a topic on a video game message board.

You're talking about a self-selected sample of a self-selected sample of a self-selected sample (sort of like how GameFAQs poll results almost never accurately reflect the real world). It could easily suggest that introverts are more likely to spend their time "socializing" on the Internet than extroverts are, and thus would be disproportionately represented in a self-reporting topic.

But also, the test is mostly bullshit.

Just because its not a strongly predictive doesnt mean its not fun or theres some truth to predicting where different types may gather. Look at how many Is are here compared to Es.

No one needs a pseudo-science "test" to come to the observation that some people prefer the company of large groups and socializing, and others prefer to be alone or in small groups.
Myers-Briggs came along and gave names to those two basic personality types and capitalized really well off of it, but anything beyond that basic division (and it's a spectrum, not a binary choice, so even then there's people who fall in the middle and don't really fit either) is pure bs clown science.

And yeah, they're popular and "fun" for some people. So is astrology, but that's not taken seriously at least. M-B sadly is.

Depends on what you mean by pseudoscience. If it can classify where types of people congregate (like it did), its more of a model, and all models have drawbacks and conditions where they apply. It also isnt binary, official tests gives you results on a spectrum. But it can give you statistically significant results (and statistical significance is its own discussion).

You can certainly see certain types are drawn to certain places, like INTJs more common in a physics department. One of the academic climate science blogs I read polled the readers, mostly all N-types. Could likely extrapolate to other academic science blogs. Maybe could be a little useful for targeted ads, depending on what other info you had about the person.

Its definitely a better predictor than astrology. People shouldnt live their lives by it any more than they live by a sign.

Usually my results are INTJ -- like a lot of people on the internet -- and once again I came up as an INTJ, although I was tempted to skew more towards capability than preference on some of the extrovert questions.

idk, a few of the "extroversion" questions in there don't actually seem like extroversion and more just the ability to socialize (meaning that some "introverts" are just socially maladjusted extroverts... although I generally suppose a lot of people who think of themselves as introverts are just socially maladjusted extroverts). I find it easy to initiate or engage a conversation, but usually I'd rather be doing something else.

I think it's still considered pseudoscience. And I heard it's largely ignored by the field of psychology. Not 100% sure, though...
