Good article on the benefits of wearing masks.
https://bit.ly/3cAWXbk

Think of the coronavirus pandemic as a fire ravaging our cities and towns that is spread by infected people breathing out invisible embers every time they speak, cough, or sneeze. Sneezing is the most dangerousit spreads embers farthestcoughing second, and speaking least, though it still can spread the embers. These invisible sparks cause others to catch fire and in turn breathe out embers until we truly catch fireand get sick. Thats when we call in the firefightersour medical workers. The people who run into these raging blazes to put them out need special heat-resistant suits and gloves, helmets, and oxygen tanks so they can keep breathing in the fireall that PPE, with proper fit too.
If we could just keep our embers from being sent out every time we spoke or coughed, many fewer people would catch fire. Masks help us do that. And because we dont know for sure whos sick, the only solution is for everyone to wear masks. This eventually benefits the wearer because fewer fires mean were all less likely to be burned. My mask protects you; your masks protect me. Plus, our firefighters would no longer be overwhelmed, and we could more easily go back to work and the rest of our public lives.

Key point addressed early in the article: using masks to protect each other in social situations doesn't have much scientific support at this point.

Yeah. I'm going to start wearing a mask at work. It sucks because I haven't found a way to wear my glasses with a mask. So I guess I'll have to not wear glasses at work :/

My eyes are gonna hate me.

Apparently washing your glasses with soapy water mitigates the fogging. Or putting a tissue on the upper portion of your mask.

Assuming that's the concern and you aren't wearing one that just gets in the way of wearing glasses.

Dang, didnt know Hong Kong and Taiwan only had 4 and 6 deaths respectively. All because they voluntarily wear masks. Their schools are still open. Yet here in Texas, they are suing a county judge for making mask wearing mandatory. Poor girl is trying to save lives but they keep trying to bring her down.

Just wear an old shirt or bandana.
According to the article:
Research shows that even a cotton mask dramatically reduces the number of virus particles emitted from our mouthsby as much as 99 percent.

A fart is a gas emission. The Corona virus needs droplets to spread. The droplets collect on your mask instead of in someone's mouth, nose, or eyes.

To put it another way, the virus is the turd that falls into your panties.

covid is not an airborne illness. It spreads through droplets when you cough, sneeze, laugh, breathe.

And masks stop a large part of those droplets.

By a non peer reviewed study. There are hundreds of those on Covid right now, some of which are under heavy scrutiny. Masks historically speaking have not been used this way to a measured effect. Maybe a study will tell us that we should be using masks, but not today.

Taiwan only had 4 and 6 deaths respectively. All because
Taiwan has done well because
1) They did everything themselves and didn't trust anyone. They sent their own scientists to investigate China in December and found China was lying and the virus was a very bad coronavirus.
2) They built a pandemic infrastructure and response system after either Sars or MERS. They had supplies in excess for there to be PPE for everyone including civilians, and testing and contact tracing was thorough and immediate since December. They never had to shutdown because they handled the situation correctly. Why the fuck did we ever trust China, that's what I want to know.

I mean, just look at the research that's been done prior. Not some panic induced click bait. I don't feel like the study that claims to have a 99% success rate with masks will make it super far just based on the fact that that's a ridiculous number and if they were indeed that successful it would be the golden standard. They have to study this in non controlled environments, ie This pandemic now, ie no peer review and a lot of studies that won't ultimately make the grade. Either way they are furthering science, so long as both cases are fairly represented.
