So if this COVID-19 can practically bring this country to a halt what if, God forbid, something really catastrophic were to happen, how are we as a country prepared for that when we were so unprepared for this corona situation

I mean, if we could handle it just fine, it wouldn't be catastrophic, now would it?

The virus didn't bring your country to a halt, the country chose to slow itself to prevent it from becoming too big of a problem.

If they wanted to, they could have just ignored it, let a bunch of old people and some young people die, and things would have went chugging along like normal but with fewer old people to take care of.

I am pleasantly surprised that the rulers are doing as much as they have been.

Maybe not by Trump, you couldn't get knowledge through that skull if you used a particle accelerator, but countries the world over will learn from the shortcomings of their/our preparedness from what it's cost us all, and the next time something like this happens, I don't doubt we'll do a better job of it.
