Even people with a good job can get screwed with a big enough health problem, Cancer can be notoriously expensive to fight since we have no actual cure for it. Insurance companies are also known for dropping coverage if one of their customers gets a major health issue.

Can someone explain why ssi receipents are told they have to get medicare in which they are forced to give back 10% of their social security plus they have to get a co pay on medical visits which is around $95 a visit and have full price meds unless they pay more for part d which makes the some more common meds like lithium cost 25 dollars but the walmart only wants 4 dollars without

Everybody who wants free healthcare either knows or assumes that they'd get more than they pay in. Most people opposed to it understand that their contribution to benefit ratio would likely be 2:1 or 3:1 and that's assuming that the healthcare itself doesn't decrease which it almost certainly would.
