Had no idea that America had a vibrant following in NY of pro nazism headed by a guy named Fritz Kuhn, who the leader of the German American Bund. He was a staunch American supporter of Hitler and Nazi Germany.

Kuhn enlisted thousands of Americans by using what would be criticized as antisemitic,anticommunist, and pro-German propaganda.

On February 20, 1939, Kuhn held the largest and most publicized rally in the Bund's history at Madison Square Garden in New York City

Some 20,000 people attended and heard Kuhn mock President Franklin D. Roosevelt as "Frank D. Rosenfeld", calling his New Deal the "Jew Deal" and denouncing what he called Bolshevik-Jewish American leadership.

Needless to say they shut him down on tax evasion charges then sent him back to Germany where he lived an uneventful life in a small German town having been cast aside by the Reich until his death in 1961.

That's probably exactly why it was included. Using commonly held beliefs and opinions upon which to piggyback a few potent extremist ideals is an effective tactic of swaying the masses.

Depends on what you mean by "communism", US cold war anti-communism propaganda was and still is very effective.

The "anything I don't approve of, especially if it's unfamiliar and I don't want to understand it because it sounds un-American, that's what I call 'communism'" type of anti-communism.

Incorrect. Socialism is an economic system and Communism is a system of government (which typically has Socialism as its economic system). The telltale sign that a nation isn't Communist is if they have a State... at all.

I recently looked it up because it keeps coming up.

Socialism is about the government setting laws in favour of the common population, not the 1 procent. Phase 1 in Marx' path to Utopia.
Communism comes after these laws, wherein the government is reformed to eventually reach the form it should have in Utopia. Phase 2 if you will.

No country has ever reached this Utopia, because typically the types of people that want to go into government, do not want to give up such power.
As such, every government that calls itself "Communist", is basically a dictatorship that took permanent control during Phase 2, instead of handing over that power to reach Utopia.
