Move Me
Battle 2
Invitation Flower ~ Autumn

I don't think I "get" B.T. Dutch. Which is really strange considering how my tastes in these contests typically go. Usually when there's a "weird" sounding song from some random game that I've never heard of, I tend to like them. Most of the ones that make me wonder how they came from a video game tend to roll well with me. But this one doesn't. I find it fairly unpleasing on the ears, and it doesn't have any "wow, that one part was crazy" moment that stands out to me. I just wanted the song to be over.

Battle 2 is the exact opposite. It's one of those super overplayed, overhyped 16 bit songs that I became familiar with even before I began listening to "video game music" as a concept, just from how often it was used on the internet. It's so mainsteam that it's difficult to judge it on its musical merits, because it evokes so many past memories for me (none of which are game related because I don't play Final Fantasy). I like the part at 0:37 better than main part, I guess. The song exists and doesn't bother me. B.T. Dutch bothers me more.

Undersea Palace [8.7] > Move Me [8.5]
Battle 2 [7.2] < B.T. Dutch [9.3]
Invitation Flower ~ Autumn > Memories of You

undersea palace Chrono SNES but that strings chord sounds like that dewprism song from last year. i like it a lot!! it's very like...discovery and danger ooooooOOOOOoo
move me is so gorgeous!! i love music that uses the Rhodes instrument and also the Breakbeats. this feels like a natural progression of where R4 music would go after too much funky ? i used to like this more, though..i think it's staled a little

classic! i love the constant movement in the bass ostinato and how the B section at 0:40 contrasts with the rest of the tune. it's something i wish was a lot longer, because i have a feeling i would like to hear the ideas developed more! rip old game limitations
there's so much happening here! the tension in the mechanical sounds and synths is great YOU YOU YOU and i love the way stuff seems to speed up and slow down at times!

no brainier. world-like music with a punch against a good but repetitive wholly persona chiller? the former every time.
