Who could have imagined that this would have turned out as well as it did given the episodic nature and ridiculously high expectations of this "Remake". Square-Enix has pulled off a miracle as far as I'm concerned and I'm looking forward to future installments more than any Final Fantasy in recent history and the original FF7 isn't even near my favorite game in the series.

This platinum is a double playthrough with some cleanup at the end. The initial on whatever difficulty you choose, then a 2nd where you replay all the chapters on Hard Mode where everything is not only tougher but you're barred from using any items and must survive each chapter on just the MP you have without being able to refill it outside of what regens in battle.

The initial playthrough you must complete the story, all the sidequests, collect all music discs, get a high score in all the minigames, deal 300% stagger damage, learn all weapon abilities, reach max level and complete all battle intel reports. After that and maxing out some materia in the process you can go into Hard mode well prepared.

In playing hard mode you have the choice of doing the sidequests again and getting manuscripts that give you even more SP for your weapons so you can unlock a ton of skills you didn't have access to in your initial playthrough, or you can skip them so you can get different dresses at wall market. You also want to complete all the coliseum and battle simulator challenges if you didn't do them already to unlock hard mode exclusive battle simulator fights like the Malboro and a gauntlet of upgraded summon fights that ends with this game's Weapon equivalent the Pride and Joy prototype.

After all that is said and done, you still need to replay chapters 3, 8 and 9 again to finish getting all the dresses for each character (3 each) and finally then after 80 hours of playing the platinum is obtained!

TLDR this game is rad and the platinum is involved and somewhat challenging. Square-Enix should make another one of these IMHO. In the meantime I'm sure people will craft hundreds of theories about what will happen in the next one. (jk they already have)

cool! my file is at 90 hours and I have only played 2 chapters on hard mode D=

but I've played the combat sim a ton and have almost finished maxing every materia so I'm looking forward to playing through the actual game again with all possibilities available

Yeah, first play through Easy or Normal collecting everything you can. That means you miss out on 2 side-quests, 1 enemy skill, 6 dresses and of course the hard only fights. Choosing either sporty or exotic dress for the Tifa dress here saves a lot of time.

Next, play through chapter 3, 8 and 9 again while picking the other one of sporty / exotic dress for Tifa, do 3 side quests in chapter 8 and do the other side quests in chapter 9.

Then okay through hard without having to do any side quests at all (except the one chapter 3 requires of you), get the final enemy skill, beat the hard only stuff and Platinum is yours.

It's a lot more fun than I thought it would be.

Oh yeah, grinding things can be done any of the three times you have to play chapter 9. You have to do Aerith's coloseum battles in this chapter one of the times to unlock the things you need on hard. I wanted to level as much up as possible before hard mode because I wanted to save time there (same reason I saved mature dress for hard), so I thought second run was optimal.

I think that sums up what saves you the most time. Playing through easy the first time obviously saves more, but I think the game is by far best on normal difficulty. Chapter select makes it hard to actually miss out on much though, missing something will only be a couple hours extra if it's in the longest chapters.

100% Play Log does mean a few more runs of Chapters 3, 8, 9.
