Built like a rock, its gimmicks are now standards in the industry (LCD backlight, rechargeable battery), and has some of the best JRPGs / 2D Platformers ever created.

If you liked cramped hands then sure, go for the AGS-101.

Preferably the grip of the AGB-001 is far superior.

Backlight you say? well just replace the screen with one of the IPS kits you can find online now. very easy to do.

I love how the DS lite's battery lasts like 20 hours.

I wished it played GBC games. Never had an SP so I never got to play them backlit.

woulda been nice if it was actually supported, yeah, but that's sony for you

if it doesn't become a sales success day 1, then all support is dropped.

Not the best system but imo has the best handheld games library.

Best system is both Vita 1000 OLED and 2000 Slim.

Best games goes to GBA.

Runner up would be 3DS for games.

A 2D limited portable sort-of-SNES is better in any way than a portable almost-PS2?

GBA has Monster Hunter, Grand Theft Auto, Motorstorm, Earth Defense Force, Dynasty Warriors, God Eater, LocoRoco, Ace Combat (not a lame 2D version)? That's news to me!

Yes, by far.

Great size, incredible battery life, good enough specs (rather than overdesigning it), and a spectacular library. The console of capable of playing most things that I could hope for in a handheld title.

The PSP & Vita were overdesigned, over-sized, over-priced, and had shit battery life. I absolutely hated the PSP and had little interest in the Vita as a result. I had considered getting the PSTV up until I learned that it couldn't run PSP games and couldn't access the full Vita library.

The DS-L and 3DS are alright, but they're too big and the battery life on the 3DS is so-so. If you are going for higher-tech, the 3DS and N3DS are probably a decent compromise, whereas the DS is in a weird nebulous zone (especially since it didn't even have an analog stick, which made games like the SM64 port suck).

Granted, as a long-term design feature, a rechargeable battery will eventually doom a handheld since rechargeable batteries will always be available whereas the specialized rechargeable batteries for handhelds don't have that guarantee.

Still feels lacking to me.
It has however convinced me to buy Hatsune Miku: Project Diva Mega Mix, making me have 3 whole switch games, which ties with my PS3, and 3DS libraries, which is pretty damn impressive.

GBA released in 2001.
Sega Nomad (portable Genesis) released in 1995 and was backlit.
NEC TurboExpress (portable TG-16) released in 1991 and was backlit.
Sega Game Gear released in 1991 and was backlit.
Atari Lynx released in 1989 and was backlit.

Yep. Really groundbreaking there.

I've never used a TurboExpress (I've actually only ever seen one once), but from what I've played of the TG-16 and GBA libraries, the TurboExpress is much better. Plus it has a (now useless) TV tuner accessory.

A lot of people say PSP , but that thing was breaking pretty easy , cheap plastic from shell to wires . Didn't last as much as 3DS and I'm very careful when it comes to electronics . I will not comment on battery life , can't remember .
Also, the discs were so fragile and large and the insert bay was a bit weird .

One plus for PSP were the buttons . Complimented no matter what game you played .

- Nintendo switch... buttons feels uncomfortable , it's not at all functional and the stick button is too high up making it unstable during gameplay . Cooling system sounds exactly like the one build on gaming laptops !!! and battery is not great for year 2020 . Requires updates like a computer . Doesn't feel like it will last long.

The graphics is the only thing I like on switch .

- 3DS had great sturdy build, buttons on the right place , good battery life , no massive cooling system and it lasts a long time ( except for certain paint and sometimes the joints and sometimes the stick button if made from cheap rubber on some models )

My vote would go to 3DS

I want a Micro, but I can't justify those ridiculous aftermarket prices when I already have two GBA-SPs and a GBA... and several DS-Ls.
