Great movie. If you wanna see the anti version of th he movie take a crack at virus. Definitely not as good but the closest your gonna get to the berserker book that the two movies got based of the movies got based off of.

Wait, what

Berserker was a 60s scifi novel in which someone launched a space probe designed to self replicate and basically acted like the replicators from stargate. In batteries not included they just make cute family units. In virus they make war machines.

1) That's not really the plot of the Berserker novels (of which there were like more than a dozen books). They were deliberate sentient weapons crafted to wipe out an enemy, that later turned on their masters. I was a big Saberhagen fan when I was younger.

2) Neither of the movies you mentioned really relate to those novels in any meaningful way other than involving machine intelligence.

It's a great movie. I rewatched it as an adult and it's still amazing.

Well honestly I say that they are. I mean I could have back dated to the concept of a von neumann probe but honest this was a quicker an better comparison as left unabated the cute little guys from batteries not included would eventually eat the universe in order to reproduce. The virus bots were just more honest and swifter on there intentions.

That is why they in away were inspired by someone who more than likely read the books. Honestly alot of modern books are retelling the stories for an audience that would have never read them in the first place.

Also I have to gve this movie props by showing alzheimers in a realistic and not comedic light. This was a good movie to give it more screen time rather than an amazing story short
