I think they went through like 10 people in 3 years because of pay.

Dont have an answer for you, but I remember this being a thing. Apparently very little, even for 90s standards.

Wasn't most of the show just scenes ripped from the Japanese show? So they really just did voiceover work for all the action stuff and then did acting for like 8 minutes of each episode?
Can't imagine they got paid much for that.

Maybe the movie paid them better though.

Even in the first season like half of each episode was unmorphed footage which had to be shot specifically for PR. And even then there was plenty of morphed footage original to PR, hence the foil Dragon Shield and other lower quality American costumes for the monsters and such.
And season 2 started a gradual shift to film more and more of each episode in America rather than pulling from Sentai, especially since Zedd himself is entirely exclusive to PR. Most morphed footage at this point was "Zyu2" which was still filmed in Japan even though it was PR exclusive, but by season 3 they started filming even that in America.

Pretty sure they ripped off the actors even for the movie. Saban was (and probably still is) just pretty fucking garbage.

These are taken from here: https://www.news.com.au/entertainment/movies/ neardeath-homophobia-and-pay-disputes-trouble-on-the- power-rangers-set/news-story/0a1728f83cce0162b0d1b5173766a282

Red Ranger Jason, played by Austin St. John; Black Ranger Zack, played by Walter Emmanuel Jones, and Yellow Ranger Trini, aka Thuy Thang, all walked over a pay dispute. Despite the shows massive success, the actors were only earning $600 an episode. None of the kids had agents. Things got so dire that, when a resolution couldnt be met, all three actors were actually replaced midway through a two-part episode.

In that same interview, he (Austin St. John) explains how the cast were worked hard for minimum pay.
We worked around the damn clock. We worked long, long hard hours on a non-union show. And well just never be paid what we should have been paid.

Despite the hard times on set, actor Amy Jo Johnson thanked Haim Saban in an open letter published last year in Variety.
I wanted to take this opportunity to finally thank you for allowing me to be your original Pink Power Ranger, she wrote.
Now, despite the fact that this was a non-union television series and I was paid peanuts and almost died a few times because of the makeshift low-budget stunts we performed, I am forever grateful.

And from a different source: https://ew.com/tv/2018/11/20/original-mighty-morphin-power-rangers-untold-stories-25-years-later/
ST. JOHN: We filmed so hard and fast for the first year. Monday through Friday, filming, it was dark when we got in, it was dark when we left. Saturday was when we were called to do voiceover. Sunday I was usually so tired, all I would do was hit the gym to train, and then go back home and relax. I didnt go out for almost a year. We finally got a week off for Christmas at the end of the year. I slept for a day to try and get my energy back. At 19 you shouldnt have to do that, you know?

JOHNSON: I had to learn a lot because I had never been on a set really before. And we worked long hours, even though we were shooting 15 minutes of the show, we shot a lot of episodes. It was quite a grueling show, but at the same time we were all so young.

Halfway through the shows second season, after more than 80 episodes, Trang, Jones, and St. John became the first original cast members to leave the series (most of the cast say nonunion pay was a major factor in their departures).

Basically, it was the first job for most so it was more of a learning experience than anything they were taking to get rich. It was also a nonunion show, which means they weren't even receiving SAG base pay. Nonunion pay could go from $80 to a little over $100 today. During the early 90's, it was likely less.

I remember Billy's departure. He had been reduced to a side character who hung out at the Command Center with Alpha. The actor stopped showing up so they put on some old guy and claimed Billy got some weird disease that turned him old. They sent "Old Billy" to the Alien Ranger planet to heal. Then at the end of the episode they had a witness protection style video with "Billy" announcing he was marrying an alien and never coming back to Earth.

Interesting little side note that has nothing to do with Power Rangers, but N' Sync and Backstreet Boys were also barely paid during their first few years of being boy bands. Apparently the founding manager of N' Sync was a legendary asshole who didn't pay them for 3 years, and took them out to dinner and wanted them to pay for the meals.

they where payed crap and keep in mind they where doing their own stunts for the most part for the unmorphed fight scenes

and this is a problem still going on filming was moved to new zealand so they could cut costs even more granted this one is on disney not saban but saban kept filming their in the neo saban era

no word on what hasbro plans to do as production for beast morphers while being the first hasbro season well the production was in motion before the purchase

but knowing how corprate greed works hasbro will keep the legacy alive of being shit to the people who make the product money

They probably shaped that narrative.

Song like most pop hits was produced for anyone's taking. 5ive was originally offered the song according to Simon Cowell.

Easily the worst original Ranger. Good riddance.

Stunt doubles were used a lot. Pretty much only Walter Jones could probably pull off the same morphed acrobatics. Kinda crazy they didn't want to meet his demands.

Interestingly enough Johnny Bosch succeeding him was just as capable for stunts.
